The Google office applications (Google Docs) run in your browser, so they shouldn't mess up your windows installation.
Versions of MS Office that you find from Google searches most likely won't mess up your windows installation, but depends on the source and you might want to scan them carefully.
The MS Office Starter edition normally comes installed on new systems by major vendors. However, according to the linked article above, you can get the installation pack from:

Here; let me help you search for that information.

Where can I get it?

I do not guarantee that the download links work. That's why I suggested using google to find that information. And no, it won't hurt your computer. Scan everything 1st.

Be warned that if you use the Blue Edition, you'll need to turn off automatic updates on your PC or at least set them not to install without your permission. Then you'll need to keep an eye on security updates for Windows and Office because they regularly include Authenticity checks which will flag Blue as illicit.
Just an FYI: The Nook Tablet does not natively support connecting to Exchange Server. Worse, even though B&N thinks it does with an app, the only provided app is NitroDesk's Touchdown which does NOT work on the NT.
NitroDesk has no plans to update their software as they say the problem is with B&N's OS on the Tablet.
Also, if you get a refund on an app purchase, you will never be allowed to purchase that app again, even if the app is fixed.
Now I just have to decided if I'm going to bite the bullet and get an iPad2 for myself or wait for the Transformer Prime to finally come out... or worse, wait even longer for a possible iPad3.

Got myself a widescreen monitor (1600x900), but I'm getting all kinds of problems playing certain games.
Portal 2, Driver SF and Lego SW all work fine at that resolution (LSW windowed), but I'm getting all kinds of Direct3d errors trying to load up far cry 2, Lego Harry potter (5-7) or crysis 2.
Windows 7, ATI HD5870 graphics card, DX11. I've been pissing around installing older versions of catalyst, but nothing bloody works, which is a pisser, as my son is at like 87% on Lego HP

I'm close. reeeeeally fucking close. Windows just installs a VGA driver to allow normal display, but I can't do fuck all with it until I install the AMD drivers

The hells of ATI graphics adapter. Have you tried a Nvidia comparable adapter? ATI makes good hardware, drivers are complete and utter shit. Might help downgrading drivers to a previous release as well.

Nope done all that, and I had a facepalm brainwave and remembered how to fix it anyway. Nothing wrong with the card or the drivers at all. Fact was, i installed the games and had them set at 1240x1024. Some games can adapt when you change monitors and automatically adopt the native settings. Other games, such as LHP and far Cry 2, require a little backdoor fumbling.
Now I'm a happy bunny, having bought a £70 monitor and it's more than adequate to do what I want it to
Huzzah indeed
