Not to start an argument with Josie, but we only know of one side of the story. Being a boss myself, I know that sometimes you have to micro-manage people a lot. They might know how to do their job, but they become complacent and take shortcuts and soon start to do things their way, the "easy" way, instead of the way the boss wants them to do it. My suggestion is if you feel like you can do a better job at his job, work harder, and get promoted. I am sure there is a reason he is in charge and you are not.

Based off what? Him saying "He's a fucking micromanaging dickless prick who puts me down for sport". What constitutes putting someone down? Is it him saying he isn't doing his job right or being productive? Some people just can't take direction and no matter what they feels like if their supervisor corrects them that they are being yelled at or are being put down. I agree there are some people that shouldn't be in charge of an ant farm, but the reality is, at some point in their career, they did something right to get put in that position. You don't get promoted just for showing up to work or for being there longer than anyone else. on the flip side, some people can't take direction either. they are know it alls and always feel like someone is out to get them or they can always do someone else's job.

Point taken. However, the reason he's in charge is because he's buttbuddies with THE boss. And it's all political where I work at, not performance-based.
So yeah, I've disconnected myself from the job. I just go through the motions. But when my boss thinks he knows more about my area of expertise than me, it really pisses me off.
