It never occurred to me that I might get an injury in the states so I didnt really think through the whole health care/doctor thing... now I may have a torn abdominal muscle (or so i'm told) and I'm wondering what to do about it. It fucking hurts like hell. You don't realize how much you use your core in most every movement until something like this happens. No more wakeboarding for a while

Yeah, that's what my friend told me.

I knew something was wrong immediately as I came to the surface. I was in so much pain. He said it was either a separated rib, a torn ab muscle, or a hernia.
After 24 hours of rest and icing it, seems like it is either "strained" or "torn" but my friend is leaning towards strained. Sucks ass.

badly torn and you would probably see bruising. When you get better, start doing some crunches. Man I tore a muscle in my rib cage once, and that shit brought me to my knees. Every breath was excruciating.

i can top that, i broke 3 ribs loose from my sternum, back in 1993. that's a pain that i can't even describe accurately. but easily the worse pain i have had to endure. (besides fatherhood
