Okay, don't know how tech/softwarey this problem is, but here's my question:
My wireless internet is hooked up and working. It's hooked up to the PC at home, but for some reason the PC itself is not getting the DSL connection. So, I'm on my laptop and the general wireless connection from that hookup is working on my laptop, but the Home PC(with the phone cord, the DSL box, the Linksys wireless router all hooked up) can't find the internet....
any idea why and how to fix that? Thanks

Tried right-clicking the internet icon on the toolbar, then repair?

Will a laptop automatically turn off if it overheats? If not can I actually ruin my computer by leaving it on for too long?
Happened to me last night and I figured it was a sign from the tech gods that I had been on DSF for too long and should go to sleep.

Laptops usually shutdown after a while (to conserve the battery, even if you are plugged in), check your power settings.
And yes, the laptop should shutdown if it overheats.

Are you plugged into the the DSL box or the wireless router?
Your setup should be:
DSL box>>Wireless Router>> your PC/laptop

There's nothing more exhilarating than pointing out the shortcomings of others, is there?

Make sure your LAN is enabled. If the LAN is enabled, disable it, wait a while, then enable it again.
If that doesn't work you probably need to re-install your NIC card driver.
