Brings back memories. Dad was retired Military and Fire with full honors. I got color guard, bugler, the flag, bagpipe, 21 gun salute and last call along with bell ceremony. I dont know how I made it through that. It was the most beautiful, but gut wrenching ceremony ever.
My sympathy and heart felt prayers to all of you who have suffered a loss recently. I know its not easy. <3

What's the normal process for someone getting the special treatment from the military for their funeral? Is it merely people who retire? Do you have to contact them when the person passes? I've always been curious. My father was a marine for 15 years and he is OK now, but not sure if he would get anything from the military like that if he passes away or if he would even want it...

i have 2 grandfathers that were in the marines...one has passed and the other is getting up there...for my grandfather that passed we had to ask for a marine burial...as long as the now a family member has been lost and you're not just talking shit they will come out and do it according to military regulations, the flag and all

Thanks guys... will definitely have to look into this when the time nears... Fortunately I have plenty of time but this is always something that comes to mind...
