Driver lost for three days A Wiltshire grandfather spent three days trying to find his way home from Gatwick Airport after becoming disorientated in snowy conditions. Moroccan-born Mohammed Bellazrak's family reported him missing after he failed to return to Trowbridge after dropping his wife off for a flight. Police in Oxfordshire eventually flagged down the 72-year-old after his car triggered a camera in Oxford. They found he had spent from 23 - 25 December driving, trying to get back. Analysis from number-plate recognition systems showed he had driven around various towns in Buckinghamshire, Berkshire and Oxfordshire and on the M4. Mr Bellazrak had no mobile phone with him, and he told newspaper reporters that his sat-nav was not working. Thames Valley Police took him to Oxford police station after he was stopped in Abingdon Road in the city at 2pm on Christmas Day, and after a rest, relatives took him home. He was unharmed by the ordeal. A police spokesman told the BBC it was "nice the story had a happy ending".

Skinny jeans, blue crabs and human excrement were among the most sought after items in North Korea, according to defectors from the communist country. Kim Young-soo, a political science professor at Seoul's Sogang University, said that pig-intestine rolls and adult films were among items selling 'like hot cakes' in North Korea. He interviewed 2,000 defectors as part of a research for the South Korean government and also found that popular goods included TV dramas and instant noodles known as 'ramen'. Skinny jeans were so popular in the capital Pyongyang that people were mistaking residents for Chinese tourists wearing the fashionable clothes. They also became a sought-after item when a ban on fashionable trousers was lifted by government officials. Shops began selling human excrement as a way of dealing with acute shortages of fertiliser in the North, according to Yonhap news agency. Professor Kim said: 'Skinny jeans are now popular and are changing the fashion style of women in Pyongyang. 'Each household used to use human excrement as fertiliser, but because it's hard to keep up with the amount, human manure showed up at markets. 'These are signs that North Korea is easing its isolation.' Lifestyle changes are more conspicuous in the capital and areas near the border with China, he added. Many of the defectors he interviewed stayed in China for just one month before going to South Korea, allowing Prof Kim a relatively up-to-date glimpse of life in the secretive country.

Navy to probe controversial carrier videos (Reuters) - The Navy will investigate "inappropriate" videos produced on the nuclear aircraft carrier USS Enterprise, which among other scenes show simulated masturbation and women showering together. A report on the videos came over the weekend in the Virginian-Pilot newspaper, which serves Norfolk where the carrier is based. The newspaper also made video excerpts available on its website (pilotonline.com/). The excerpts show female sailors pretending to wash one another in a shower on the carrier and in other scenes "sailors parade in drag, use anti-gay slurs, and simulate masturbation and a rectal exam," the newspaper said on its site. Shown in a number of the excerpts is Owen Honors, then the executive officer on the Enterprise and now a Navy captain and its commander, the Virginian-Pilot said. Honors "masterminded" the 2006-2007 production of the videos, which were shown aboard the ship, the newspaper said. The videos "are clearly inappropriate," Navy Commander Chris Sims of the U.S. Fleet Forces Command said in a statement responding to the report. Production of such videos was not acceptable when they were made and is "not acceptable in today's Navy. The Navy does not endorse or condone these kinds of actions," Sims said. "U.S. Fleet Forces Command has initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the production of these videos," the statement said. A Navy spokesman declined to speculate on Sunday as to the possible outcome and effects of the investigation.
