Maybe I'm mistaken, but I thought I read that Monty Brown didn't ask for his release....WWE released him because he was jerking them around and wasn't being forthright about what his family issue was, or when he was coming back.
What I meant by Jeff Hardy being buried was that his popularity is so high that the company could benefit from him being one of the top guys instead of being in a mid-level feud with MVP (not to knock MVP, who is talented, but he's not on the same level with Hardy). I worded that poorly; I don't think they are trying to keep him down, but I think he's a top tier player who's not getting the opportunity he deserves.
You're definitely right about people not being able to adapt to the WWE way of doing things; it's hard when someone comes to a new place and has to adjust to a new environment. But, I only asked that because it just seems to me that anytime that Vince signs someone that he didn't create (whether it was from the old NWA, AWA, WCW, ECW, or TNA), not too many of them seem to do well. Ric Flair and Shawn Michaels have done well, but it took them years to finally push guys like Booker T, Eddie Guerrero, and Chris Benoit. And Booker finally got pissed and left, because some of the stuff he was doing in WWE made him look stupid. Some people get a bone thrown their way every once in a while, but it just seems like most of these guys don't get the chance to become a top dog if they weren't born and bred in WWE.
