I've heard of people dieing while on a waiting list for routine surgery. I used to have a friend that lived in Quebec. She cut something out of her own mouth at home because the waiting list for outpatient surgery was so long.

Anyone wants to know what Nationalized healthcare is bad, look up John Stossel and the articles he has written concerning it. I'll post them if anyone is interested.

Last year, my dad needed a quadruple by-pass. Within 24 hours of his diagnosis, he was on his way to the hospital. My parents weren't crushed by debt or forced out of retirement to fund their medical expenses...
My neice was born 2 1/2 months pre-mature with congenital heart defects. She is in recovery and good health while my brother and his wife can rest easy knowing that they'll never have to choose between her health and their mortgage payments...
There are a handful of cases to support the abolishment of universal healthcare, but there are far more experiences in favour.
Like many Canadians, I believe that access to healthcare is a right, not a priviledge. Sure the system can be improved upon, but in the interim, it's better than most.

And your "for instance" is... ?
It hasn't been done better than what is working now. The US needs a smaller government, that's a given, but what works there wouldn't necessarily work here. The American healthcare system is broken because of government interference and cash grab mandates, but it's failings have little to do with universal healthcare in other countries. Your argument is flawed and irrelevant.
