Because we have to "spread it around" we are encouraged, nay FORCED to reward undeserving posts so that we have spread it around sufficiently in order to just give it to the people who are actually earning it.
Snake Cable Eccles (to name just a few of about a dozen) etc post great content. I could probably find a thousand posts among those guys to "rep" them for. But nope I have to wait til I've whored it away to everyone else before I can give it up to them again.
This inherently devalues the rep greatly because the awesome post by Cable which shares an album I've been dying to hear ends up being equal to Pred's picture of some dude tucking is cock up inside his own ass or something.
Additionally this system devalues the rep greatly because the only way Eccles gets real rep for a great post (due to what I just explained above) is if everyone else agrees and jumps on thereby the system as currently arranged only truly rewards people who keep the herd happy if the herd sees the particular post at just the right time (when their rep is sufficiently spread) rather than just posting great stuff.

You are trying to tell me that there are only 4 people deserving of rep??

Because I set the rep spread at 5 which means you have to give it to 4 people before you can give it to person number 1 again. I could name 5 people that you could rep all day long on any number of awesome posts. NO need to delve into n00b territory to hand rep out to undeserving posts.

You could easily go:
1. Godfather
2. Foetus
3. Snake
4. Pisces
and then go back to Godfather. Your argument about being "FORCED" to give to "undeserving" posts is invalid... nay, IGNORANT.

If there are about a dozen people you deem rep worthy and with the rep spread set at 5, you will never have to ever rep any person you deem unworthy. You won't ever have to rep Pred or a n00b just to be able to give Cable rep again.
