One never wants to smell that "electrical" smell, trace it to an electrical outlet, turn off the breaker, take off the cover, pull out the outlet and find that 1/10th of the plastic casing has melted to goo...
So much for it being a GFCI outlet or the breaker popping. It was over 20 years old. Looks like I'm replacing a LOT of outlets over the next couple weeks.
