When my son was born, my wife sterilized pacifiers, bottles, nipples, basically everything he put in his mouth. I kept pointing out that all the other stuff he put in his mouth (hands, feet, toys, blanket, random bits of fuzz, cat hair, basically anything he could reach) wasn't sterilized and didn't seem to be doing him a bit of harm, but it did no good. That was a battle I finally realized I didn't have to fight. Her OCD sterilizing did no actual harm, it was just a waste of time, and I knew as soon as he was mobile, she'd have to give it up because he'd be eating twigs, leaves, grass, anything within reach out in the yard, and she couldn't sterilize everything.
We were in New Jersey with him in late May when he was just a baby - hot and humid like a sauna, and she insisted on wrapping this kid in three layers so he wouldn't get cold. That one I put a stop to - "See honey how he's completely drenched in sweat - that's probably because it's hotter than prison sex out there and so maybe we could back off on the layers a little bit."
Biggest reason I moved out in the country last year was so he could skin his knees and eat bugs and fall out of trees and do all the stuff you should be doing as a little boy - I can imagine the first time he comes in bleeding - she's gonna freak out!
