We get more daylight the closer we get to Summer Solstice, so we actually only have, literally, 24 hours of daylight for about a week in the middle of June. The rest of the summer is pretty much nonstop daylight as well. We gain about seven minutes of daylight a day as we approach mid-June. Then we lose 7 minutes of daylight every day until the middle of December. It's the exact opposite in the winter. Right now (December 2), the sun finally came out at about 11:00 AM and it will be pitch dark by 3 PM.
Yes, we do get a Permanent Fund Dividend check every October. This year was around $3.300.00, if I remember correctly. We also have no state tax and pay no sales tax.
