The moon always faces the same surface at the Earth. For it to do that, it must rotate once to keep that side oriented toward the same point. It both rotates once and spins once. From a distant point, such as the sun, looking at the moon you would see the moons surface change as it precesses in its orbit.
That also proves that there is no "dark side", since every month the entire surface of the moon is exposed to the sun as it circles the Earth.
Hold a beach ball in your hands. Slowly turn in a circle. To other people the beach ball will be completely exposed to them. To you, you will only see the one side. They will see it all.
This is why vampires do not live on the moon. They would burn up the first of every month. A lot like my wife did during The Change.
