Driveline Vibration Issue!!!WTF

Driveline Vibration Issue - Possible Root Cause

This guy ran over a mattress and decided to keep going. The ensuing jumble finally whipped around enough to put a tear in the gas tank, the subsequent lack of fuel is what finally brought this vehicle to its knees.

It had still managed to drive 30 more miles decently with a 60lb tangle wrapped around the driveshaft.

He complained that the vehicle had a "shimmy" when driving it high speeds.

This is what the dealership found..............

i once ran over a bathtub that flew off the back of a truck. i have to say my old ford pinto performed admirably until a few years later when i took it cliff jumping.

When I saw the title of this thread, I was about to post something helpful/technical about the drive shaft vibration. After seeing the pics, nevermind, technical replies are not needed.

I thought something similar too. I do some work with vibration analysis at my job and I thought I might have something helpful to add.

First off...that guy is an idiot. How could he not notice that the mattress that he (accidentally?) ran over didn't come out from beneath the car. Did he not look in his rearview?

driving to work today i saw a guy run over a deer(already dead) and drag it for about 200 yards. it didnt appear any entrails were wrapped around the car so the mattress guy is still worse i guess
