Olivia Wilde - discussion on Sustainable Development at the UN Headquarters in NYC 9/7

And Olivia Wilde's thoughts on sustainable development are meaningful because . . . ?

How is her opinion less valid than yours? It's an opinion. Never understood the bias against entertainers. They are people just like you and me. Just normally a lot more attractive.

No. They are not normal people like you and me.

So by your rationale, I bet you see nothing wrong with Kimye setting all these convicts free, to gear up to to have her mentally incompitant husband try to take office.

You must be a diluded millennial.

Actually, a hell of a lot more attractive, at least in my case ;)

I get that she's quite the activist when she's not acting, but I just wonder about her qualifications to sit in on this discussion.

I'm sure there's a homely grad student or intern working or volunteering in an agency or think tank that could offer real insight and data to a discussion on sustainable development, but that wouldn't make the panel look as glamorous. And sadly I think that is more the U.N.'s goal than to actually offer solutions or policies on the subject. :light

So a persons appearance or job choice changes the value of THEIR opinion. Good to know. :D

What a ridiculous comeback.

If I'm looking for intelligent insight into the construction industry, I'm going to someone with first-hand knowledge/experience in the industry, not a Victoria's Secret model.

If I want someone to comment intelligently on the medical industry and how cost controls are affecting patient care, I'm going to talk to doctors and administrators in the industry, not the guy who played House on television.

When the U.N. wants attention for one of it's publicity stunt panels, they get actresses and models to sit in chairs and stare purposefully at the camera and repeat canned talking points so it ends up on blogs around the world.

Not really all that hard to get one's head around.

just sayin'
