DAE have strange sleeping habits?!

DAE have strange sleeping habits?!

I can't sleep with a shirt on unless it's really cold.

I usually wake up a couple times during the night and even when i do manage to fall asleep i often have the weirdest dreams.

TR 04-02-2010 10:41 PM

go get a sleep study you freak! :D :D :D

I've actually had 3 of em. The results are enlightening to say the least.

BleacherCreature420 04-02-2010 10:55 PM

I have a white noise machine @ home........am on vacation now and had trouble sleeping the first night, every little noise woke me up. after a little googling, I found this

Code:

makes white/pink/brown noise - can even make a MP3 to download.

What would you use this for? I was at the pool today, wanted to read but there were tons of kids distracting. Put the mp3 on the iphone on repeat and I could not hear a thing - it was like wind constantly blowing and blocks everything else out..........good shit

satan666 04-02-2010 11:00 PM

Good tip ^^^ thanks

yeah, i had sleep apnea. It showed that my sleep cycles are 3.5 hours long and with the apnea I did not REM, well, more like 5 minutes of REM per night. Sleep architecture is really fascinating (almost as much as porn). Best thing about cpap therapy is no more hangovers....turns out one of the things why hangovers happen is lack of oxygen when you sleep drunk. Alcohol relaxes the soft palette and your incidents of apnea increase giving you lower oxygen concentrations and poor sleep.....so now I can drink until I'm blind drunk and I'm not hung over. Fucking science rocks!:D

TheSNakE 04-03-2010 12:08 AM

I have to sleep naked. I hate wearing anything. I have terrible insomnia too. And when I do sleep it's only for four or five hours.

dolphinskull 04-03-2010 02:06 AM

I have always had pretty bad insomnia. It takes me hours to fall asleep and when I finally do I can never stay asleep, I usually wake up 5 or 6 times during the night.

also I usually sleep during the daytime

So what do you do to fix that? Sleep with an oxygen mask on and oxygen tank next to your bed?

TR 04-03-2010 09:19 AM

continuous positive airway pressure or cpap. Basically, a blower that takes ambient air and pushes it to a certain level of pressure through a nasal mask. If the apnea is really bad, they bleed O2 into the line to increase oxysat levels (luckily that is not my situation).

my wife has done home health care and DME for years, and she would always tell me about the delivery drivers who delivered o2 tanks, cpaps, etc, huffing on the o2 tanks in the AM after partying :)

MrGoutHimself 04-03-2010 01:35 PM

After almost 8 years of marriage when I left my wife and came to stay with my sister (she's in the process of moving out in preparation for her marriage) I slept in the bed in her spare bedroom the first night I was here. It took me almost 3 hours to fall asleep. My wife can't sleep in bed due to GERD and her back (or because she's a dirty whore) so she always slept in the recliner in the den, which put me on the couch. Last night my sister stayed with her sex so I fell asleep on the couch, I was out almost instantly once I was done obsessing about the bullshit with the wife. I also can't sleep with a shirt on, ever, and rarely with pants. I'm a fat fuck (5'8" and 200 pounds now, down 20 since my GB surgery) so I sweat just sitting upright sometimes.

damn, so you really did it, eh? left the wifey... good for you if that's what's gonna make you happy. No need to keep suffering like some people do. If it aint gonna work out then it just aint gonna work out, ya know?

Oh and the 5'8" 200 pounds doesnt sound fat. You probably are a little heavy but those numbers don't seem like a "fat fuck". just sayin

Instead of searching this forum I searched google. Didn't think a whole thread would be devoted to explaining what DAE means.

satan666 04-04-2010 04:14 AM

You can USE Google to search this forum, fyi.

Works great for those pesky 3 letter words that our shitty search engine can't find.

EDIT - well it looks like it hasn't spidered our site to find "DAE" yet but to illustrate my point i searched for D12

EDIT2 -
To effectively use Google to search DSF type "site:drunkenstepfather.com/forum (search term here)"
Make sure there is NO space between SITE: and drunkenstepfather.com/forum or you will get different results. Also, make sure there IS a space before your search term. This can be useful but it can't, of course, make use of the filtering that our search engine can like filtering results by USER, date etc.

one rnd at a time. one flag. flip to full. six flags.

(i added this to the above post too)

Thought i should clarify because i realize there might be more people that want to know exactly how to do this. (this will also be included in the new Help section)

I can't sleep with a shirt either, unlee I passout with it on. Since I like it cold, if it's too cold I just put a heavier cover on the bed. I usually sleep with the covers up to my neck.

For anyone who has trouble sleep and/or snoring, I recommend a sleep study. Sleep apnea has been shown to cause weight gain, stokes and even heart attacks. When I don't use a CPap machine I've been known to stop breathing because of airway constriction, over 50 times in an hour with an O2 sat. level of only 28%. (Anything under 85% can be fatal over time.) An apnea episode for me can last anywhere from a few seconds to just under a minute.

I was talking to a sleep tech and he was telling me that they have to keep a crash cart in the sleep lab. More than one person has had to be revived, due to the fact that they stopped breathing or had a heart attack during the test. The test is non-invasive. They just hook up wires to your head and chest and watch you sleep.

BTW TR you should still not drink or at least not to the point of getting drunk. The relaxation you body experiences may cause the CPap not to have enough pressure or even drown you by pushing your vomit into your lungs while you are trying to throw up in your sleep. :(

I also need a fan, but for the streaming of the air. My CPap gives me all the white noise I need to help me sleep. If you are using it for noise, might I suggest a cd that can replicate the noise, or even putting the disc on an mp3 player. Less space and more room for baby clothes for you.

Yeah, I actually prefer a wooden stock to kevlar or composite. Since we're speaking of sleeping habits, I can't sleep without having one of my Ka-Bars within reach, either my Marine issued one that I've taken with me all over the world, or the shorter older Navy equivalent that belonged to my dad's uncle Mike Fisher during WWII. One's always in the house in reach and the other always lives in the pocket behind the front passenger seat so I can reach back with my right hand and grab it in case of trouble.

TR 04-11-2010 03:20 PM

No worries Mr. H, I have an auto tritation bi-pap. I've never had a problem. My pressure goes up very little when I drink. Thanks for the heads up tho......:)

towdog 04-17-2010 11:28 PM

Absolutely have to have socks on. Summer or winter. If my feet get cold I sneeze all the next day. If it's cold I sometimes wear a light t-shirt, but other than that, nothing but the socks.

I have sleep apnea too, but haven't used my machine in a couple of years. I'm a side sleeper and the mask kept breaking seal. I know I could just get a different mask, but I haven't got around to it.
