Do you know any weird cocktail recipes?
At the Belli Lunch in the Drake Hotel's underground (basement) space yesterday on Queen W in Downtown Toronto, I sampled some deliciously different drinks.
![]() Basil Martini was the best beverage available.. This blended martini was the signature cocktail of E.B. White (author Charlotte's Web) and also some other famous music club in Martha’s Vinyard or something – who cares, this is a great drink! I put the exact recipe right on the photo using the Facebook application Blabble so you could try this one at home. The last line is 3 to 4 leaves of basil. Try it. It’s worth it. Why doesn’t every bar have a drink like this? What’s your favourite exotic cocktail recipe? Got any pictures? |
I like to make one called the Black Cock Russian. Pretty much the same as a regular Black Russian, but I stir it with my cock.
Delicious. |
An old flat mate did run a cocktail bar, so fantastic to come home and have him practise recipes then spend all night drinking them :D
Don't have pictures for these, most of these are best served cold over ice. Then again i am no barman this is just what i have written down from my ex flat mate. Dirty Bird! 3 oz tequila 2 oz coffee liqueur Top with cream or milk Horny Devil 2 oz tequila 1 oz white rum top with a little tomato juice splash of tabasco Tight Snatch 2 oz White rum 2 oz Peach schnapps top up Pineapple juice and add crushed blueberries Sour Punch 1 1/2 oz. ginger brandy 1 dash lemon juice 1 drop Tabasco 1/2 egg white, mix all together and sieve before serving Might be able to dig out some more later. |
I was in a bar up in Bel Air, MD. A female bartender gave a drunk custmoer a drink called
Sloppy Seconds. Sloppy Seconds-Drink Recipe Recipe Ingredients 12.0 oz. Beer 2 oz. Tomato Juice 1 oz. Rum in a Beer Mug.. |
Its nothing special - but the bartender at the 99's up the street from my buddies gave me this tip because they wont do shots or make anything a double.
Instead of a Jack and Coke - ask for a (in my case) a JD Manhattan on the rocks, hold the Vermouth with a splash of coke. Basically its Jack on the rocks with just a hint of coke so I don't feel like that lonely drunk at the end of the bar.....yet. That was most of what I had last night which crippled me all day today. |
Dirty Sailor
1 shot of tequila 1 splash of mayonaisse |

I don't have a recipe, but when I was in Italy, the last night in Orvieto my friends and I went in to a wine bar that we had frequented throughout the week with the chef we were working with (he was our translator) and told the bartender that we were from an American organization that rates the best mixed drinks in tourist towns throughout the world and we thought he had what it took to win the award for Orvieto. He made us all a round of drinks, and we told him that wasn't quite what we were looking for. This repeated for 5 drinks until we told him he was the winner with a drink with vodka and blood orange amongst other things. We had an official looking certificate with us signed by our president, Barry McCockiner (my idea, hence the screenname) and got our picture taken with him. We got it framed the next morning and dropped it off, and it's still hanging on the wall there, so if you're ever driving through Orvieto, stop in the VinCafe and you can see the picture.

One placed I worked at my buddy and I would give complementary shots to the 21 year olds. If they they were being assholes, arrogant, stupid than they would get a fried egg which is;
151 & popcorn oil. 90% were puking after that. |
A friend got me hooked on Crown Hooters. Oddly, after not making any for years, I can't exactly remember the mix. I've looked on the net and none of them are what I remember.
I think... Crown Royale Sprite Sour mix (not sweet and sour) Chamborde At some drunken point I remember a hot bar babe making it with pineapple juice too. Not sure what the mix quantities are, but it's poured into a shaker with ice to chill and then drank from a shot glass. I'd pour it over ice in an 8 ounce glass. |

Moonshine
The basic ingredients:
* corn meal * sugar * water * yeast * malt The basic process: Mix all ingredients together in a large container. After mixing, move the mixture, called "mash," into a still and leave it to ferment. How quickly this process occurs depends on the warmth of the mash. Heat the mash to the point of vaporization at 173 degrees. The mash will produce a clear liquid, often the color of dark beer. You must watch this process with careful attention. Trap vapor using a tube or coil. The vapor will be transferred into a second, empty container. The resulting condensation is the moonshine. It is then ready to drink or sell. Keep mash in container. It is now called "slop." Add more sugar, water, malt, and corn meal and repeat the process. Repeat the process up to eight times before replacing the mash. |

My favorite was always a "Nuclear Nazi" (friend named it that). It's equal parts Jager and Vodka with a splash of midori to green up the color. I also liked to have black Sambuca added instead of the Midori because I don't like fruity drinks except Fruit Juicy Red from Hawaiian punch (with Grain Alcohol or Everclear added).
