Honestly, no I don't find having a kid makes me hate kids less. Just my kid is obviously exempt. I truly do dislike most other kids. But the problem is usually due to the other parents parenting skills, what they let the kids get away with etc.
An example: we went to a local Mexican place one night. As BC parked, I waited at the door. There were 4 kids outside. Probably 8-10 yrs old. The three girls were less than 4 ft apart and had some need to scream at each other. Then they decided to block the doors by just leaning on the door while they continued screaming at each other. The boy, he was hanging from the decorative tree outside. Well, sapling really. At it's biggest, the trunk was no larger than my upper arm. Then they finally went in. We went in and walked right back out. I apologized to the hostess but also thanked her. Apparently it was some school group and she asked if we were with them. I said "no, but thanks for asking...sorry we're leaving, we'll be back another night." Apparently inside the 3 girls that liked to scream a bit, had other friends who were just as loud.
MiniBC even rolled his eyes at some of the behavior he saw in that short time. He's an odd kid at times. I don't curtail his hollering and yelling and being all boy...in the right place and time. Some people think we're too strict..but yet those same people comment on his politeness, willingness to help others, and the fact that he listens and behaves. I know it sounds biased and some of it is. But, he is a sweet kid. Weird but sweet.
Oh yeah we'd enjoy being your neighbor! But of course only interacting through IM and shit. I mean if I already do that with BC....why would I face to face with a neighbor??
