Why do people have kids? Three words...Earned income Credit. I enjoy my 3k I get from the gov't every March. Hell I might have another kid...thats another 2k every year.

I had children because I felt that I'd be a good father and have a lot to offer in the areas of knowledge and skills to teach and share. That and I wished to keep my last name alive.

Worst logic ever.....

Studies say it costs 250k to raise a kid from 0-17 which is about 14k a year. So you're either a terrible parent who keeps his kid locked in a cage while spending 10 bucks a week to feed it cat food. Or, that 3k tax credit is costing you 14k a year for a negative cash flow of 11k.

No I was being a tad sarcastic. I am a single dad so we don't get to spend 14k a year. Those studies are for people in a higher tax bracket, not mine. The tax credit is nice but not the best reason to have children.

I'm 31. The wife is 30. We spent the first 8 years of our marriage making sure we REALLY didn't want kids. She hates what it would do to her body. I like to work too much. We're both just selfish people, but at least we realize that. I talked to a Dr. client of mine a few months ago and was told for zero money (thank you Blue Cross) and about 15 minutes of my time, he can make sure there are no accidents. Gotta love modern medicine.

We have a dog. When he acts up, we can put him in the back yard for hours at a time with nobody calling Social Services. We also don't have to worry about baby sitters, clothes, social BS, shitty schools.......

Just my 2 cents on the little bastards....

I agree with everything you said except I don't like working and I don't want my balls snipped.

I was the same way for a long time, but when my son came out and looked at me I was done for. My life took drastic and dramatic turns the moment I realized that he, and later my daughter, needed me to be a better person.
