When you say music must involve real instruments not only is that incorrect, it is ancient thinking. By that logic you would have to discount hundreds (if not thousands) of artists and musicians going back into the 80's that used computers to do things that traditional instruments couldn't do. MIDI stands for Musical Instrument Digital Interface and musicians everywhere used it to program keyboards to spit out sounds in sequences that no human could ever play unless he had more than 2 arms. A lot of people like Skrillex experiment with new sounds that no instrument could ever make and they push the envelope..

There's beautiful artwork created on computers by people that never picked up a paintbrush. That doesn't mean that they don't know all the same concepts and building blocks of creating art. There is still skill involved. The same goes for music.
