As a truck driver, I have to say that if this (I'm guessing) automatic braking system was actually implemented on European highways, the death toll would be catastrophic. To have a fully laden, 38-tonne truck (which this one clearly wasn't) attempt to stop in such a short distance, would mean the entire trailer jack-knifing, or the load contaoned therein, having its own intertia, would shift forward with such force it would destroy the front of the trailer and probably end up through the back of the cab. I've seen it happen in many a safety video.
