I agree with you in principle. Everyone has the right to defend themselves right? So if I'm standing at a store coming to a decision on whether to buy regular cheetos or puffy cheetos (puffy ftw) and someone hits me with a cane because he feels entitled to walk where he pleases, I have the right to defend myself, right?

I'm asleep in my house, protected by my second amendment right to own a gun (I do) and I hear a large commotion and my door busts open and people in black storm my bedroom with guns I have the right to blast them away, right? What if they're cops that have the wrong house? Its happened 6 times in 3 years in the Houston area alone and every time the home owner has been convicted (if they lived).

My point is this: what good is a right that only SOME have? Its hypocritical. It flat out doesn't make sense. I fucking hate the anti-abortion freaks that come to my college with their posters of dead fetuses and block my way as I'm trying to go take a shit in the 5 mins in between classes. But I pinch my cheeks and ignore it because they have the right to protest buy I have the right to wear a t-shirt with the face of a baby that reads "Mmmmmm, the REAL baby back ribs". Tolerance and the law keeps us from falling into anarchy.

I can see how it can be viewed as a dick move. What I find really interesting is how this has been in the works for years and for some reason it now deserves front page treatment. Its cute.

Generalizing is popular because its easy. In Afghanistan, my cousin took photos of a goat that was slaughtered and cooked in their honor. He brought back pics of 'they' showing their appreciation for not being under the taliban. He also showed me a picture of a box of fruit that were given to him by a group of children in Iraq. He instructed his men to leave it at that location until they were returning to their camp. When they came back there were several dead dogs that had been poisoned by the fruit. You know how he could reconcile all of it? "Some people are shit." After being shot at, having his ankles shattered, and having his vehicle blown up by IEDs (twice), he didn't lump everyone together.

Absofuckinglutely. Now I have to read CNN, FOXNEWS, MSNBC, the BBC, and a few other newspapers (sites) to get a good idea on wtf is going on. The shitty part is that the foreign press is infinitely better

That's why I still think what we did there was a good thing. We freed millions of people from tyranny. I'm proud of all those guys who fought for other peoples freedom. It's like the French. We saved their asses and they still hate us. You can't please everybody.
