Do you let your cat outside

Fenced backyard and no claws = does not escape easily.

We let them out for a few hours at a time.

My wife does some work with a bird sanctuary, and they're real serious about the whole "Don't let your cats outside" thing. Not only is it bad for the birds, it's bad for the cats -- there are a lot of insects and diseases out there now that can mess them up big time, and if you live (like I do) in an area with a bunch of wild animals around, I guarantee you if your cat got into a fight with a hedgehog or a badger, Mr. Whiskers would come home a bloody mess if he came home at all. Keep the cat inside, and if you do have to let them out, watch them and keep them on a leash.
