'Band of Brothers' inspiration dies at age 92

PHILADELPHIA (AP) ? Richard "Dick" Winters, the Easy Company commander whose World War II exploits were made famous by the book and television miniseries "Band of Brothers," died last week in central Pennsylvania. He was 92.

I remember seeing the documentary that preceded the series and thinking "what a cool mother-fucker." A true paradox of a person: brave yet humble, soft spoken but decisive and a real bad-ass with no real ego about his exploits. May he rest in peace knowing many people saw in him a true hero.
