Default Vista vs. XP

I felt like FDRSuccessor and I were bogarting the APPS thread. So, I started this one.

Referencing the following post

Plain and simply, Vista is more stable than XP. Yes, it feels a bit different. However, one can easily change that by going back to classic controls, etc.

I really liked 2000. Took me about 2 weeks to not dislike the feel of XP. Same with XP to Vista. Granted, I don't use Aero (I keep forgetting I have it), nor do I use the newer explorer options. But I haven't switched over to my XP part except for installing patches and playing Battlefield 2 (doesn't play well with Vista on my machine even though others have no problem).

I like Vista. The thing is I think Vista is better if you start with nothing on it. Seeing how some of the XP programs dont play nice with vista, I dont recommend upgrading from XP. Install vista first then the apps.
Just my 2 cents.

I completely agree. As a standard practice, NEVER UPGRADE from one OS to another. Backup data, wipe the drive, even the partitions and install fresh. Don't use any method of recovering profiles either. Too much crap gets kept.

My main issue is the anti-piracy shit. From what I read they are going to FORCE that on users after XP is removed from shelves. Me likely pirated warez dammit.

I like the network option with Vista. You can goto the share center and shut off/on password. You can password protect computers and shares from one place. It is also set up for IP version 6 witch will be coming along real soon.

My view...

If you want vista, buy a whole new pc with vista on it...don't waste time upgrading...not worth the hassle...

It's more stable. People bitch when Vista crashes, but for some reason they've become accustomed to XP crashes so they don't complain.

It's more stable for TYPICAL users. Man I overclock my shit till it's hummin, I tried that shit with Vista and no joy. I'll stick with XP till they at least work some of the bugs out.

I like and use Vista on all my computers, however I wont let the users of the company I work use it because I don't want to support it. For the average user that doesn't know a lot about computers it has a high learning curve and still has a few annoying bugs. other than that I love it, I even have it on my gaming machine and havent had too many problems except with old games not working.
