VLC media player is still, IMO, the best media player out there. I have not come across anything it can't play (no need to download codecs and shit), it is open source and best of all... it's FREE!!

EDIT - i forgot to mention it is not a resource hog and is not a bloated program.

One more feature i love about it is how it so easily handles all the subtitles for foreign movies. If you need the subtitles you just DL them (usually under 1mb) and insert them in the same folder the movie is in. VLC will "see" them and add them automatically.

um... no.

i dont make any money from this... mainly because there is no money to be made with a FREE product.

Just letting people know they released a new version which improved on the older one... that's all.

I've been using this for years, and it is indeed an awesome bit of software. when all other media players fail to open a file VLC pretty much always succeeds. this is especially useful given some of the weird and unknown codecs that go into the production of some 'artistic' vids.

That and it doesn't come with all the pointless bloated shit you get with windows media player, realplayer etc etc

i hate how other media player always try to take control of the preferences for certain media files *ahem* quicktime *cough cough* real player *cough*

its a fantastic program and i recommend it to anyone i ever meet. seriously. that said, im not a big fan of this new one. its the same thing, i juts liked the old feel to it.

One of the best features of this program is that you can change the aspect ratio of the video file. Super useful if you watch your legally downloaded archived videos on your television. I gonna geek out now.
