Looks like it's between the Dodgers and Brewers for Hoffman.

looks like hoffman's a brewer. i cant wait to hear hells bells in miller park. this move probably pushed the brewers over the .500 mark and hopefully they can pick up a starter or two so they can be a serious playoff contender

before the signing i had them at 80-82. based on the guys the brewers have in their bullpen it is very reasonable for him to account for 3 or more wins. i'm not saying he'll be an all star caliber closer but that doesnt mean he wont help out a very poor bullpen.

The next time Smoltz pitches, it?ll be for the Boston Red Sox, who gave him a one-year, $5.5 million deal ? more than double the guaranteed amount offered by the Braves for a 41-year-old right-hander recovering from shoulder surgery.

Hoffman is a much better option than gagne was... and cheaper. The brewers could use some starting pitching, maybe trade Fielder since I don't think they will be able to resign him and he will be gone after arbitration.

My team is the Colorado Rockies. And thats because I am born and raised in Colorado, so it was neat to see a team be brought here after the Zephyrs left. I used to work in a radio station the year the Rox went to the play offs and this station was the AM affiliate of the Rockies. I listened to a lot of games so you couldnt help but get caught up into it all. Blakestreet bombers all the way.

After I left the job, I tried to keep up with them but started to really fail at keeping a glance towards the MLB. They were always in mediocrity so it was really difficult to show support for a product that was sub par. Plus, that same affiliate was also the Avalanche radio, so when they got hot in pre-strike, I was also caught up in that. I will admit, I am a casual fan and want to watch a team win.

Anyway, when the Rox made the WS versus the Red Sox 2 years prior, a part of me knew it was doomed. I am sure that sounds a hindsight 2020 but roll with me on this one. There was too much time off. For a bunch of youngsters to just plidow threw a bunch of other teams and then have to sit and wait while the AL figured out who it was going to send, well... thats bad. The Rockies bats were hot, the pitchers were closing it out, and all was going right. Then the bloated budget AL champs came to town... and it all went to shite. Too many days off, too much time was given to think and inflate the ego. And it killed them.

Then it killed them this year. Struggling to defend that NL Champ banner, the team was deflated. And now with the owner doing a firesale of talent, Holliday gone, Fuentes gone, Taveras gone, Helton all but retired, the team is going to head back into mediocrity.

Rocktober was a great month, but it only comes along once in a while. I hope O'Dowd and the Rox prove me wrong this year but I see the team finishing dead last in a crappy NL West division.

I'm a Yankee fan. I'm not a fan of how much money they spend sometimes though.
