I just started the semester and today in our "Sex" class our professor asked us a really weird/interesting question. He essential said that we are teaching our kids 2 basic principles in "sex education." One is don't get sick, the second is don't get pregnant. As the class continued he brought up another question that kind of threw me and my classmates.

Should we teach masturbation? Should that be included in sex education? What have you taught your children about masturbation and why?

Now for me-having someone teach me how to masturbate is really odd. Not a class I would want to take. But someone made a point and said that there are workshops on how to give blow jobs, be a better lover, etc. People really take advantage of those-why wouldn't they take advantage of a workshop on how to masturbate?

So my question is...would you? And furthermore if you have children would you want that taught as part of a sex education class? Is it something you would want someone else to teach them, or is it just too much?

I don't want arguing...just want to hear what you think. There's no right or wrong answer. Mind you the sex education classes they are speaking of are mostly taught in 6-8th grade. Tell me what you think. If we discuss anything interesting Ill post it here to get some feedback from you all.

Let me just say that when i first "spanked the monkey (sorry BC)" i didn't need instruction.

nah, that's something a kid needs to learn on their own. sooner or later they'll figure out how much fun they can have with their hands without one of the creepy gym/health teachers showing them how

i would have to agree here.......sex ed arms the students with preventive measures to be safe in the event that they are going to have sex. Teaching them that "skill" would just lead to more trouble in in my opinion. Once kids find out how great that is, it would lead to actual sex much quicker. Plus everyone would run right to the bathroom after class to get a head start on "homework".

adding onto megadouche.......i agree, i dont think guys need to be taught anyway

Okay so this point was brought up and his response was "So WHAT? If they're going to have sex whats so bad about that? Shouldn't they enjoy themselves? Isn't that the point of having sex?"

Although...It might lead to less of a stigma for the kid who masturbates...let's face it, kids are evil, when one finds out that another masturbates, it is open season...maybe if they realized that they were all doing it and there was nothing wrong with it, it would lead to less problems
