I don't think enough people know who buddy rich is. He is undisputably the best drummer who ever lived. for all of you non-jazzers, check out his drum battle against animal on the muppet show. it's an easy introduction.
As much as I love Bonzo, I think my vote would have to go for Ginger Baker. He has jazz chops and rock energy as well as a lot of ingenuity. Moon is great fun, but he's a sloppy player.
Danny Carrey from tool is one of the greatest.. what about the guy from Dave Mathews Band? I saw some live show on tv once with him and was blown away at how effortless he made it look.

I don't know if I have seen Tim "herb" Alexander of Primus show up on this list he truly deserves to be on this list. Now I know there are plenty of nay sayers about him, but he has in his way changed drumming. No one works the double pedal like him.

well, i would say that the best rock drummer of all time is john bonham, and by quite a margin. but when you take jazz drummers into consideration it becomes a bit difficult to compare them with regards to the 'best drummer of all time' as the style is so totally different. i don't know too much about jazz drummers but isn't joe morello meant to be technically the best, or is it buddy rich?
my personal choice is Steve Adler from the original Guns N Roses, with out him that album appetite for destruction would have been lame-o, he is just my personal fave,
