Manny is one of those guys you don't think should be able to win, but he breaks people mentally in the cage.

When I watched him on TUF I was sure Wiman would beat him, then I was sure Lauzon would do it; but he proved me wrong.

Don't like the guy, but you have to give him props for what he's accomplished despite his stature.

Manny should sub Emerson early in the second.

Omaplata, are you subbing blue's and purple's with the Omaplata or just your fellow whites?

I can't remember the last time I saw a higher belt rank get subbed by one.

Granted, I'm only a 3 stripe white belt, but I generally use the Omaplata to sweep rather than try and sink it as almost everyone defends it so well and I'd rather have top position.

Yeah, subbed a blue belt last night with an omaplata (new blue belt) and caught an older blue belt in a peruvian necktie. I've been training for a long time, but never consistently. The omaplata is easy to defend, but a lot of times I'm quick enough and flexible enough to bump my hips out after trapping the arm. The logical move is to roll out, but then you leave your back open to be taken. Where do you train?

I train out of North Texas MMA in Dallas.

My hips still aren't good yet, I'm still pretty stiff in my movements so I tend to sweep and go for position first, as I finish much better from top position.

I've personally always believed and found that people should develop a bjj game based on what best suits their body type and skill set. I train with a lot of guys now that have great top games and amazing guard passes. I've just tried to develop a guard because I didn't have one for so long. Enjoy training.

For you BJJ loyalists out there, this is great news. Xande is a world-class BJJ figher, and I think he'll transition into a dynamic MMA fighter as well. The author of the article, Kid Peligro, is generally very good about updating stories like this. I'll try and post updates as I hear about them.
