Default What do you know about home theater projectors?

I've started up a media production business with some friends and we have an office space right now and we are looking at video projectors that we can use to

a) Show finished products to clients
b) Use to sync up ADR (Audio Dialogue Replacement) and voiceovers
c) Use to screen our short films for friends
d) Use to have secret screenings of real movies that are still in theaters because I'm gangster like that
e) Use to play video games and watch movies for funsies during break time and after hours.

We don't have the slightest clue on which projectors are the best so I asked myself "Where can I go where someone probably knows the answer to this"

So I came here. Anyone have any suggestions for a good projector? We only ask that it project at 1080p, outside of that we have no clue what to look for.

I'd say make sure you have plenty of inputs for all of your components. I bought one with 3 hdmi inputs as well as a component cable input so I'm covered for future additions. Other things to look for are the lumens level and the throw ratio. I researched for a long time to find out what I needed for my home theater room. I eventually bought my projector from projectorpeople.com. My home theater was the best investment I ever made. Personally, I think that projectors are the way to go. Only downside is the cost of the replacement bulbs.

Let me know what your budget is and i can give you some suggestions. Buddy of mine just spend $60k on a new projector, and that doesn't include the lens or scaler so the sky's the limit. Also, do you have complete control over the lighting in the room that it will be in (windows)?

We have one window in the building that, once we use the projector, can be shuttered closed to shut out all light. We have two rows of lights in the office... well, here take a peek

Our screening area will be going in the back there with the projection toward the white wall (we will have a screen for it)

We don't have a huge budget. We'd like to keep it in the area of $1000. Sure in the future when we get bigger we'd like to get one of those serious hardcore professional projectors, but for now we need to nickle and dime it
