Actually the only reason I referenced the Cunts... er, I mean the Cubs, is because there was some Cub discussion that I wished to chime in on.

And see, that's the problem with Cub fans... You guys actually put together a damn fine team, and you just kinda hope you'll do well, and maybe you'll finish alright, and you won't have to cry at the end of the season. A team like the Cards and a few others in Baseball expect tradition and winning. You guys are too pessimistic. Perk up and smile a little while.

Most of what I discussed was the Cards, however, and hell, did you all see that BOMB Pujols hit tonight in San Diego?

Too bad the team is in last place. Where is all that great young pitching at now. They have the best pitching staff on the DL.

Side note- Congrats to the Red Sox's Jon Lester for his no-hitter. Guy is a class act and a true survivor.

Legendary? No, the Cubs collapse a few years back( you know, the Bartman game) was legendary. Losing the chance to make the playoffs on the last day is just sad.

The Cubs collapse was a one inning nightmare, plus they still had a chance to win the next day. The Mets collapse last year was a thing of epic proportions. The fact that they had first place in the East locked up for about 3 1/2 months and then lost it with 2 1/2 weeks left in the season is tragic. To have one of the best teams in the national league the entire year, huge expectations for a world series bound team, and then to have it all slip away at the end of the year because they tanked it... that sucks. I should know, it happened to the Cubs in 2004 when they lost the wild card, lol. Not quite the same, but still a big slide to lose a sure thing.

It goes to show you that baseball is the most inconsistent, sporadic, and random sport out there. I love it for that. Anything can happen in baseball

That is as I am sure you will agree the beauty of the game. The best team doesn't always win. Sometimes a team with forgotten players and a cast off of a manager can defeat the Empire. Referring to the Marlins defeat of the Yankees of course.

if there's one thing i dont like about baseball it's the insane spending. i know the marlins should spend more, but would they be any better by having, say, gagne at 10million a year. MLB is just loaded with ridiculous contracts. (sorry brewers fans, first bad contract i could think of).

also, i lived in boston during the "nomar" era and everything red sox fans hated about the yankees (they are too corporate, they outspend everyone, they buy their world series) is exactly what the red sox have become. in my mind, the red sox are the yankees 2.0.

No the Tigers are the Yankees 2.0 and you see what that has gotten them. Most of the Red Sox team are home grown talent. I applaud them for "buying a championship", it shuts the fan base up over the whole curse thing. Now that Boston has two recent championships, what do they have to complain about anymore. The Sox-yankees rivalry has lost some bit since the Sox won. Used to be exciting to watch now its just like any other series.
