The only way you're going to stick with something is if you already enjoy doing it.
What are your interests, like a hobby for instance? It sure as hell makes it easier when you have to do it full time if you enjoy it in the process.

If I'm honest what I'm aiming to do is be a playwright, and there's a course in the autumn that I'm aiming to take part in, what I need is something to do day to day that I don't hate

Think about it for few days, let it simmer. If an opportunity comes up, go for it. If it doesn't work, no harm in trying something else. Not everything has to go on a resume either.
Good luck with the course. Do you write at the moment? If so, you may find some gems in the rough scripts when done with the course.

I'm trying to write but I'm a massive procrastinator. I need the first 15 pages of something as part of the application to the course.

I guess the hardest part should be getting the backbone of it sorted. Plot, characters, etc. Once that's in place, putting meat to the plot and developing the characters will give you more than 15 pages. People around you need to know you actually have work to do that is going to pay down the line, and give you space and time to work on it. Otherwise disappear to the garden shed (or similar secluded environment like a library) and put pen to paper. Forget the excuses why it can't start, just start. Good luck.

Saw an interview with Ice Cube. He said he wanted to write a script so he got a script from a random movie, learned the basic format and started writing. Then he wrote Friday's.
