That's the way I like it
  In rock, these still are the best. Rock-versions of Marshall Mathers. Otherwise I'll agree on Right Said Fred... Appetite for destruction (GnR) & Nevermind (Nirvana) - c'mon! They were great back then - but who listens to them these days??? Anyway, Pink Floyd is for junkies.

I don't know if it is possible to pick one, cause it's easy to point back to epics like Astral Weeks, Led's Zoso & II (probably my classic pix) or Marvin Gaye's What's Going On, depending on where your influences are;
but what about Radiohead's The Bends? I think this was an instant classic. Fuses and updates elements of all the predesessors from Zep & Floyd. As much as I like(d) GnR & Nevermind, total package on any album can't warrant my consideration - and greatest hits, like Bob Marley's Legend, could definitely take it, but that dosen't seem fair.

I am thinking either:
