We have sick time and vacation time (for salaried people like me) as well as floating holidays. The deal though is you get all 3 floating holidays up front, and accrue the sick and vacation time at a rate of like .47 of a day each 8 hours worked or some bullshit. The point though is they made me take 2 leftover vacation days at the end of December because my department's VP didn't want to deal with the carryover paperwork. So now I've got half a sick day, almost a whole vacation day, and 2 floating holidays because I've used half of one to go to the doctor and the other half for today. So I've got to take about 6 days off for the surgery (next Friday and then the whole week after that for recovery) and I may only get paid for 3 of them because HR is full of shit. And no emails about this, just voicemails and apparently I can't forward my voicemail from today from HR to my cellphone. Fuck! I'm looking for another job and if they fuck me, I'll fuck them.
