I would want to go to Tokyo by myself. You might want to look into Thailand. I can hook you up with a guy out there who owns a crocodile farm. You can ride elephants and play with tigers. And Thailand is beautiful.
Or you should come to NYC. Route 66 will be boring after the initial novelty of being there wears off. Sri Lanka has a lot of temples and places like that, but so does Thailand.

NYC was mentioned tonight, I must admit it looks tempting. Hadn't thought of Thailand tbh.

NYC is a good place to go with the wife. You can see all the stuff you want to see in a few days and then you can see the surrounding areas. It's real easy to get to a lot of places from here. Cape Cod is only 4-5 hour drive away, the Hamptons are close, all the historic revolutionary war places are close by. It depends what kind of vacation you are looking for. I highly recommend Beijing. The great wall, forbidden city, summer palace, is all very close. And it costs pennies to travel to the other historic cities too.

i'd take thailand over sri lanka, homo can probably give you "tips" for that.

world is big, lotsa places you hadn't thought of... must be nice to be old and able to travel like that

as in taking the time to do so...

china is nice, but it's too much like rio on steroids, everybody's desperate to take advantage of you. likely to be a great trip if you have a local chaperone though
