i believe handbrake should work for you, it is what i have used to convert videos in the past on my mac.

ok one more question..my dvd drive is starting to have trouble reading discs,i have a lens cleaning disc for dvd players but it won't play in pc.any suggestions?

Do you want to do a clean install of XP with sp2? You can just download sp2 and run it on your current install and that would save you some steps.

every time i try, it won't validate. someone gave me this computer, and i don't think they used a retail version of windows...

Question

If i happen to find some video of the homemade porn nature, how do i take stills pictures from them. So i can post them here?
