Hell yes teachers deserve more than they are paid. Their "set" working hours might seem like less...but they're expected to work through their breaks, if they even get them during the day, they always take home work (or the good ones do, the shitty ones...meh) and the good ones make your kid feel special...even if they are a rather boring kid. Now, teachers only spend more time with my kid than I do because of required attendance etc. Last year, by the time MiniBC came home, he had enough homework (in kindergarten) that by the time he did it (alone at his insistence except for the required reading aloud), we cooked and ate and he got a shower, we had little time to DO anything together. So that left weekends. Which also had some homework..reading usually. I am all for reading. But cut ME some slack and give me time with my kid. This year, the homework so far has been more reasonable. But that doesn't mean I think teachers need crappy pay.
Now, I also feel parents in general should try to be involved in their kid's class. Unfortunately, I can't volunteer due to a few reasons. They like their volunteers to be more predictable than I am and the major one is I pick up every little bug the snot nosed kids have. I go to school and end up sick in a week. I still volunteered a little in MiniBC's room last year. As in took my required one day of snacks in a month, his birthday snack and spent half a day doing a bulletin board. For that, I earned an MVP award. Now how I did that I am not sure. Only a couple of other parents did so. SAD!
well... my apologies if I offended, it is but a personal opionion based on experience! And just an opionion.
I never said I don't talk shit, I do. I'm not stupid enough to think my opionions are always right... but sometimes life forges your arguments based on what you go through.
No intention to offend, and I welcome your constructive critisicms to my post ^^
