Robert Vaughn, 83

Robert Vaughn, the cleft-chinned actor who reached the peak of his fame in the 1960s playing Napoleon Solo, the debonair international agent tasked with saving the world each week on the hit television series “The Man From U.N.C.L.E.,” died on Friday. He was 83.

Cause of death was acute leukemia.

Would it be disrespectful to say I always that she looked like a bitch? I wish I would have said what I thought about her on Wednesday because now that she is dead I really do think I might be a tad disrespectful. While I am at it even though I watched The Brady Bunch every afternoon I had everyone that was on the show.

Ron Glass, Emmy-Nominated Actor Known for ‘Barney Miller’ and ‘Firefly,’ Dies at 71



Ron Glass, a prolific TV actor known for playing Ron Harris in the sitcom “Barney Miller” and Shepherd Derrial Book in “Firefly,” has died. He was 71.

The actor’s rep confirmed the death to Variety, but had no further details regarding the cause or location.

Glass was born in Evansville, Ind. and went on to study drama and literature at the University of Evansville. He began his career in Hollywood in episodes of “Sanford and Son,” “Hawaii Five-O” and “All in the Family” in the early ’70s.

In 1975 Glass found his breakout role in “Barney Miller,” set in an NYPD station. His character was a dapper and ambitious intellectual, obsessed with launching his career as a writer. The role earned Glass a Primetime Emmy nomination in 1982 in the supporting actor category.

After “Barney Miller,” Glass would go on to star in 18 episodes of the 1982 “The Odd Couple” remake “The New Odd Couple” as well as making guest appearances on “The Twilight Zone,” “Family Matters” and “Murder, She Wrote,” among other shows. In the late 1999 he appeared on two episodes of “Friends” Ross Geller’s divorce lawyer, Russell.

In 2002 Glass joined Joss Whedon’s cult favorite “Firefly,” playing a spiritual figure with a mysterious past. Glass would also reprise the role in the 2005 movie “Serenity.”

Glass was still a regular face on American television as recently as 2014 when he appeared in an episode of “CSI.” That same year he appeared in “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” as Dr. Streiten.

British Photographer and Filmmaker David Hamilton Found Dead Amid Rape Scandal



David Hamilton, the British photographer known for taking sensual pictures of young women who directed films including “Bilitis,” was found dead in his Paris home on Friday, just weeks after he was accused of rape, according to France’s AFP. He was 83.

The AFP reports that French investigators speculate that the cause of death was suicide, as Hamilton was found dead with a bag over his head.

In the late ’70s and early ’80s Hamilton created and released five films with erotic themes, shot in the same blurred, soft focus style as much of his photography. “Bilitis” was his first, released in 1977, about a teenage girl who meets a couple and develops a crush on the wife. “First Desires” (1984) depicts a trio of girls who are shipwrecked on a Mediterranean island and embark on their own journey.

Hamilton grew up in London until age 20 when he moved to Paris to work as a graphic designer on Elle magazine. His recognizable style would go on to be featured in other magazines including Réalités, Twen and Photo. He published more than 25 books over the years as recently as 2006 when he released “David Hamilton,” a collection of photographs, and “Erotic Tales,” a series of fictional short stories.

The unclear line between Hamilton’s life and his art was recently called into question by TV and radio personality Flavie Flament, who published an autobiography in October titled “The Consolation,” in which she describes being raped when she was 13 years old in 1987. Although she does not use Hamilton’s name in the book, Flament later told French media that she was referring to Hamilton. Two women have also come forth since then with similar allegations, though the statute of limitations has expired in all three cases. Because of Flament’s charges, French authorities are now considering whether to change the statute from the current 20 years for juvenile cases possibly to 30 years.

Hamilton responded to the accusations on Tuesday by telling the AFP, “I have done nothing improper.” He also accused Flament of trying to get her “15 minutes of fame by defaming me in her novel.”
