heat got our hands full....pacers won't back down. i think people forget that they were the hardest series (at first) last year, too....wade was having trouble getting going, and we got down 2-1. even as a diehard, i figured that was it (i didnt even say the same when we played boston, game 6 in the garden, down 3-2), just because the team hadn't shown any life.
what's worse, and tougher this year, is the pacers are hitting their shots, their defense is incredibly improved, and the heat can't put any distance between them.
interesting stat: last year's series, games 1 and 2, heat shot 11% from 3pt. The rest of the games: 40%
I do think Battier and Allen being off has been the biggest issue for us so far. If those guys or MILLER can hit their shots, that distance can be created. I still have hope, but I feel like this series is already becoming the most exciting one of the entire playoffs, even with the Spurs/Warriors already in the books.
I gotta go with my Heat, IF they are able to put themselves in the mentality that it IS a must-win (for both teams, really). Otherwise, we might get that passive shit where we dribble-drive for the first 14 seconds, get caught in the air on a pumpfake, pass out to someone who will no doubt be covered, and then either take a terrible shot, or turn the ball over.
Oh yeah, and the Spurs can stop hitting their 3s anytime now. They're DUE for a bad 3-pt night, right? And we're due to get guys hitting all of em. I'm looking at you, Battier.
side note: what a fucking awesome series, if you're a fan of the NBA. As a Heat fan, I was too nervous to enjoy it as much, but it was still objectively very entertaining.
Congrats to my guys...lets try for that ThreeHeat now.
I can't believe the Heat gutted that one out. I thought for sure they would panic when they were down double-digits in the last two games. Their ability to go from a good defensive team to a lock-down defensive team when it matters is amazing.
