If we can't keep the politics out of this thread, it's going to get locked like the others. Ask Satan for an area in the forum strictly for politics and in the mean time lets get back to world news.
Patriotism is as fierce as a fever, pitiless as the grave, blind as a stone, and irrational as a headless hen.

The old one only got locked because Pred got ass-raped by the facts and cried to everyone. (I've still got the private messages)
My last statements here re: politics will be - trickle down Reaganomics plays a big role in our current crises, but I don't expect the wingnuts to even be able to comprehend that.
I was in Business school at the end of that dark disastrous period in our history, a time that set the precedents for the current corporate collusion that cripples our systems.
And I also watched Clinton pull our country out of the miserable attacks on us commoners. Only to be attacked by the haters much as Obama is experiencing, solely because of a thirst for power, and not for our common welfare.
Believe me, Clinton screwed us in other ways with NAFTA, etc., but was still playing the same cleanup role that Obama is tasked with now. And it worked, only to be torn down again by the other party during the GW era. And I expect that cycle to be repeated, as it is inherent with a two party system that there will be over-correction. I just cannot even comprehend how anyone can not see how we got here.
And Striker, Drudge and Fox play a pivotal role in the dis-information, look at the entities they've spawned such as Breitbart, who are all the old trash news people beholden to dubious funding - but again I don't expect anyone that takes these views to actually research any of this. As for the other jesters like Limbaugh, he was a washed up fuck on a shitty station in Sacramento when I was in College, and it was in his takeover for the deceased Morton Downey, Jr. that he found his 'views' - these guys are entertainers people - they do absolutely no research, and have no great insights, don't fall for it.
Aquaman, I think you are greatly mistaken by the results on NY 23rd, the Repubs put ALOT into that race, and the fact that a conservative Dem took it is important if for no other fact than it shows that a seat held for over a hundred and fifty years by one party can flip based not upon party lines, but ideology. The only reason I care about which party wins is for seat count, so that maybe something can get done. The Repubs had their shot and we're pretty fucked. Give the other team the ball and see what they can do.

PELOSI: Buy a $15,000 Policy or Go to Jail
JCT Confirms Failure to Comply with Democrats? Mandate Can Lead to 5 Years in Jail
Friday, November 06, 2009
Today, Ranking Member of the House Ways and Means Committee Dave Camp (R-MI) released a letter from the non-partisan Joint Committee on Taxation (JCT) confirming that the failure to comply with the individual mandate to buy health insurance contained in the Pelosi health care bill (H.R. 3962, as amended) could land people in jail. The JCT letter makes clear that Americans who do not maintain ?acceptable health insurance coverage? and who choose not to pay the bill?s new individual mandate tax (generally 2.5% of income), are subject to numerous civil and criminal penalties, including criminal fines of up to $250,000 and imprisonment of up to five years.
In response to the JCT letter, Camp said: ?This is the ultimate example of the Democrats? command-and-control style of governing ? buy what we tell you or go to jail. It is outrageous and it should be stopped immediately.?
Key excerpts from the JCT letter appear below:
?H.R. 3962 provides that an individual (or a husband and wife in the case of a joint return) who does not, at any time during the taxable year, maintain acceptable health insurance coverage for himself or herself and each of his or her qualifying children is subject to an additional tax.? [page 1]
- - - - - - - - - -
?If the government determines that the taxpayer?s unpaid tax liability results from willful behavior, the following penalties could apply?? [page 2]
- - - - - - - - - -
?Criminal penalties
Prosecution is authorized under the Code for a variety of offenses. Depending on the level of the noncompliance, the following penalties could apply to an individual:
? Section 7203 ? misdemeanor willful failure to pay is punishable by a fine of up to $25,000 and/or imprisonment of up to one year.
? Section 7201 ? felony willful evasion is punishable by a fine of up to $250,000 and/or imprisonment of up to five years.? [page 3]
When confronted with this same issue during its consideration of a similar individual mandate tax, the Senate Finance Committee worked on a bipartisan basis to include language in its bill that shielded Americans from civil and criminal penalties. The Pelosi bill, however, contains no similar language protecting American citizens from civil and criminal tax penalties that could include a $250,000 fine and five years in jail.
?The Senate Finance Committee had the good sense to eliminate the extreme penalty of incarceration. Speaker Pelosi?s decision to leave in the jail time provision is a threat to every family who cannot afford the $15,000 premium her plan creates. Fortunately, Republicans have an alternative that will lower health insurance costs without raising taxes or cutting Medicare,? said Camp.
According to the Congressional Budget Office the lowest cost family non-group plan under the Speaker?s bill would cost $15,000 in 2016.

While I love constructive debate, striker is right.
The only think I'd like for palin is to bless her with a angry pearl necklace. And I'm done with talking about politics on the board. Have at it if you have time to waste.

Eh, one last point. Reagan grew the deficit to 3x the size of carter's. He sent money to Sudanese liberation organizations (Bin Laden).
Really last point: they all suck. All elections prove is the election based on preference. We need the right as much as we need the left- seriously. If we think that the other side hasn't a valid point to make, how would we feel if our point was the treated the same way?
Obama is a douche for arguing with people who have the only answer of No. Want to do something? Then fucking do it. Either way anything that passes can be destroyed by a later congress/senate/president.
The GOP is fucking retarded because instead of crying and bitching, they could REPRESENT and PERSUADE. You have the high ground? Sweet, then PERSUADE the American public. The fact that that talking heads are bigger motivators is a FUCKED state.
To the vocal minorities that like to protest: good for you. Seriously. The hippies did it in the 60's - 70's and eventually it worked. But if they think that if they scream loud enough that they'll become a majority? -What happens when you get screams in your ear? The message gets lost and you tell that person to STFU. Your party sucks? Simple solution: start your own. Get your own funding and representatives. Take it to the elections.
You would think that anyone that feels that their voice isn't heard would remember that situation/feeling when someone else is being marginalized. But they won't, neither side seems to learn.
Pregnant star of HBO's "Cathouse" series was found dead in Oklahoma City house fire
Pregnant star of HBO's "Cathouse" series was found dead in Oklahoma City house fire.

The owner of Dennis Hof's World Famous Bunny Ranch in Nevada said the pregnant woman found dead in a house fire Monday was one of his Bunnies.
Brooke Phillips, also known as Hayden Brooks from Dennis Hof's World Famous Bunny Ranch.
Authorities have not officially released the names of any of the four people whose bodies were found in the fire, which authorities say was intentionally set.
Brooke Phillips, 21, of Moore, had recently taken six months off from the famous brothel and the accompanying HBO's Cathouse: The Series, because of her pregnancy, Dennis Hof said.
Police said Thursday that one of the victims was pregnant, and Hof said he was told by the girl's roommate in Oklahoma City that Phillips' body had been identified by her aunt at the medical examiner's office earlier in the week.
"This is a terrible, terrible day," Hof said. "It's the saddest time in 54 years at the Bunny Ranch."
Hof said Phillips had been with him for about two years, and she began employment there shortly after she e-mailed him and said she was a big fan of the HBO series.
"She had an amazing personality ? just a beautiful person. She had the looks. She had everything going her way," Hof said. "It's just so sad she got caught up in something she wasn't involved in."
After talking to a witness Wednesday night, police are labeling the investigation into the intentionally set fire as a homicide case. They also said the pregnancy brings the death toll from four to five people.
Police spoke to Jose Fernando Fierro, 31, who they said was a possible witness in the fire that was set at his rent home near SW 59 and Kentucky, Sgt. Jennifer Wardlow said.
No suspects have been identified and no arrest was made. Police did not discuss details of the interview and would not confirm whether Fierro has been eliminated as a suspect.

Ummm...maybe. It wouldn't be the first time I was wrong. However, according to some of the news I read today, that race may not be over.
I have several friends that are liberal, progressive, democrats, or however else they wish to identify themselves. We've found that we usually agree on most things about 80% of the time. I am pretty libertarian/conservative. I don't agree with abortion, at the same time, I don't want to see it outlawed. By the same token, organizations like Planned Parenthood that push abortion piss me off. Most of my liberal friends agree to some extent.
I personally don't want to see the left disappear. I want to know if companies are polluting the rivers, streams, air. But I don't believe there should be legislation enacted that completely tips the scales the the opposite direction. There has to be some common sense invoked by someone, somewhere. I want to know if there is injustice, such as someone being discriminated against because of the race, creed, color, etc. Again, legislation enacted that tips the scales to the other way is counter-productive. There is truth in the saying, "Sunlight is the best disinfectant."
We need refineries built. But if the Sierra Club is going to sue with the backing of the EPA at every turn, no one wins. We need people to be respected for who they are, no what color or religion they are. But if the Naval Academy is going to remove people that earn the right to be in a place of honor, simply because they are white, and replace them with someone that didn't earn the spot, simply because they aren't white...no one wins.
I loved Reagan. I joined the Air Force while Carter was still in office. Moral was so low it wasn't funny. We couldn't go off-base in our uniforms when Carter was president. Reagan gave the miltary a 100% pay raise when he became president. Reagan was also countered by a democrat house.
Clinton's presidency was a success because of the 1994 elections and a republican majority in the house. John Kasich balanced the budget, not Clinton. If Clinton had a democrat majority in the house and senate, he most likely would not have been elected.
The republicans screwed the pooch under Dubya because they held the house, senate and the White House. Why democrats weren't happy with them is beyond me, they spent way more money and invested in way more social programs than the democrats did.
I believe government does best when government does as little as possible. If the republicans win the majority in the house and/or senate in 2010, Obama will be re-elected in 2012. If they don't, Obama will be just like Jimmah Carter. One term.
