 I didn't find out until pretty late in the relationship with the ex, and the tranny had already hit on me several times. I can't explain how fucked up your thought processes are after getting your ego stroked with chest rubbing and attention (I was high, drunk, and depressed at the time, so I plead ignorance just cuz s/he was mannish-looking. When you're so messed up you can hardly see or care, a blowjob is a blowjob if it's offered by two 'chicks' - thank god I never went through with it). Suffice it to say, I never got messed up around 'her' again and I ditched my ex a couple months later. Buuuutttt.... she was living with a guy who was fully aware of her 'status'.
