he wasnt getting smoked, fedor won the first round. the cut made it look much worse although rogers had fedor in more trouble than just about anyone outside of possibly fujita.
it's kind of shitty for fedor because the way cbs/showtime/m1/the russian mob are promoting him as an immortal god the only way people will buy into the hype and not call him overrated is if he knocks his opponent out within a minute. he just ko'd an enormous undefeated fighter who won all his fights by knockout and it's still not enough. ah well, he'll keep winning and people will keep hating. thats just how it goes i guess

That's the thing about Fedor he doesn't look like much but he wins, all the time. I 'm sure he will lose at some point but who goes this long in MMA and doesn't get beat, even a fluke lose, He doesn't have any of those losses. He is a complete fighter or as complete as anybody in the sport.

its kinda ridiculous cuz i didnt even know how big the guy was and then i saw he was 5'11" and i was like "wtf?? are you serious?"
but you have to admit he got a little lucky w/ that punch... he threw his whole body into it, something im pretty sure you're taught not to do on day one
But what I think you might be missing, is that there is no 'Day One' for what a guy like this is doing. Off-kilter, off-balance, unorthodox is almost the norm when you open up all the weapons and angles of MMA as opposed to straight stand-up. And looping punches are a big part of that game, though Rogers did most his damage keeping his elbows in.
I boxed and wrestled for years, and it took me a long time to make sense of some of this - and I still cannot imagine going against a Fedor, Spider or Machida -just too many threats. If you look at that fight, it was logical odds-wise that Fedor would have submitted him with something like that kimura, but Rogers was too strong to fall that early. So the strikes were bonus imo.
Great card, was bummed a bit that Miller seemed to work the gas game too long on Shields. Maybe because he's accustomed now to the 10 minute openers? I still say he's better all around, just a weak plan.

yeah thats true but im just sayin when most people think of punching they think boxing (myself included)
yeah that Shields/Miller fight was kinda boring and you could see it on Miller's face after awhile when Shields was just content on laying on top of him holding his legs while pressing him against the cage.
I totally agree with you Soze, Fedor knocked out Rogers in spite of getting his nose broken on the first punch of the night and hurting his left hand at some point. Nothing will be good enough to compete with the Drago-like marketing that Strikeforce did, but what can you do? He still won, still looked dominant with that crushing right, and still has not lost to anyone in like 9 years. Fedor is the man, and is always so respectful, you gotta love him.
