Brittiny Lopez-Murray former Hialeah rookie teacher of the year takes plea deal over sex battery with student after admitting copping feelings for her teen victim.

A married Florida drama school teacher and former Hialeah ‘rookie teacher of the year’ accused of having sex with a 14 year old student avoided prison Wednesday after taking a plea deal with prosecutors.

Brittiny Lopez-Murray, 33, entered a guilty plea for six charges, including lewd and lascivious battery, lewd and lascivious molestation involving a child aged 12 to 16, and electronic transmission harmful to minors.

According to NBC South Florida, Murray was ‘sentenced to two years of community control,’ followed by 10 years of probation. The educator is also required to register as a sex offender and attend mental health counseling for sex offenders with mental disorders.

Sexual predator develops feelings for teen victim

The victim’s parents reportedly approved of the plea deal.

Murray, who was named ‘rookie teacher of the year’ at Hialeah Middle School in 2017, had sex with her 14 year old victim in her car on numerous instances, starting in August 2021.

The victim’s father got involved after his daughter noticed the victim acting odd while on the phone, leading her to find ‘explicit text messages and photos’ between the teen and the teacher.

The father then saw a nude photo on his son’s phone that Lopez-Murray sent.

The victim later told police that Lopez-Murray sent him a text in August and revealed she had feelings for him.

Lopez-Murray began abusing the teen, who had previously been one of her seventh and eighth grade students, shortly after that text was sent, the affidavit had said.

Police said the pair met for coffee, which led to multiple dates where they would have sexual encounters in the teacher’s car, including in the parking lot of the Westland Mall and a Publix.

‘The defendant also groomed, enticed, encouraged the victim to send child p*rn*graphy images by writing things such as, ‘perfect, and yum,” an arrest affidavit read.

Read a statement the Miami-Dade school district issued following the female educator’s indictment in October, 2021, ‘saddened and disappointed over these serious allegations given that the District takes great measures to ensure our students are educated in safe learning environments.

All employees receive training and are expected to abide by the District’s Standards of Ethical Conduct policy. It is unfortunate that despite our efforts, the actions of some individuals run contrary to the behavior that is expected of them.’

Not immediately understood is what led to the female educator abusing her position of trust, authority and power to subjugate her male victim.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A former high school teacher was arrested after she was accused of sex with a student, authorities in Cross County, Arkansas said Thursday.

Kara Lee was arrested and charged with three counts of sexual assault in the first degree and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Cross County authorities said the alleged incidents occurred in November and December last year.

“A call was made to CACD and an investigation ensued finding that Lee had inappropriate physical touching and sexual intercourse with a male student. This investigation is ongoing,” the sheriff’s office said in a news release.

Tatum Hatch, West Monroe H.S teacher in Lousiana demanded she take a 15 year old student’s virginity as the educator molested the boy along with sending risque images to teen. Improper relationship alleged to have gone on for a year and a half.

A 32 year-old Louisiana high school teacher sexted a 15 year-old boy, demanding that she be allowed to take his virginity, before proceeding to molest him while in her car with her baby, prosecutors allege.

Tatum Hatch, an ex-teacher at West Monroe High School was arrested following an investigation that began December 15 when deputies with the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office were tipped off to an inappropriate student-teacher relationship.

Hatch is alleged to have come to her victim’s home and gotten him into her car, where she allegedly touched the teen’s genitals with her infant child in the car.

Victim told teacher he was scared, predator teacher said she was scared too

Authorities then contacted the 15-year-old male student’s father, who confronted his son.

The son allegedly told his father that his relationship with Hatch had been going on for a year and a half according to court documents cited by KTVE.

Deputies met with the 15-year-old victim and monitored his cell phone, finding an Instagram message thread that they screen recorded.

In the thread, Hatch told the child that she wanted them to have sex, telling him to come through her bedroom window.

Hatch is also accused of sending naked selfies to the victim in what’s known as ‘Vanish Mode,’ where the pictures eventually disappear.

Later, police discovered more messages where Hatch asked the victim about their eventual sexual conquest.

The 15-year-old told Hatch that he was scared, with Hatch responding that she was scared too.

Hatch then told the victim that she was worried that he would find another person to take his virginity.



Predator teacher pays off victim

Police continued to find conversations between the victim and Hatch over the span of several months.

After obtaining a search warrant for the Instagram messages, authorities located a nude photo of the teacher, the dailymail reported.

One of their conversations even took place at a school function that took place after dismissal, where Hatch allegedly tried to get the boy to sit with her.

Police took Hatch in for questioning on December 16, one day after they were tipped off to her alleged behavior.

Hatch refused to answer several questions about what she sent to her alleged victim, fearing she would lose her children.

She did, however, admit to talking to the victim via Instagram messages.

Authorities later found out that Hatch allegedly gave the victim between $500 and $600 after she became afraid of a rumor she heard about the boy.

The local school board confirmed Thursday that Hatch resigned December 26. She had been on administrative leave since December 15.

Hatch was arrested Wednesday on a charge of computer-aided solicitation of a minor.

The educator was released after posting $10,000 bond. Her next appearance in court is scheduled for Friday.

Jessica Bader, Oyster Bay school principal at East Norwich abruptly resigns months into her new role after its discovered she failed to disclose previous sexual indiscretion with student at another school district years earlier.

An abrupt sudden departure – but why? A former Long Island teacher who resigned after having an ‘inappropriate relationship’ with a student in 2006 was hired as a barista school principal decades later after she lied about her teaching certificates.

Jessica Bader, 51, worked as a teacher in the early 2000s – but resigned after her teaching certificates were suspended for having an ‘inappropriate relationship’ with a student at East Meadow High School in Long Island, where she taught.

The relationship lasted from 2004 to 2005 – through the student’s junior and senior year, according to legal documents cited by Longview News Journal.



Then former teacher defended her sexual relationship with student

Documents revealed that Bader’s relationship with the male student involved ‘physical, intimate and/or sexual contact, improper communications and/or improper correspondence.’

The relationship was exposed by the victim’s mother, after coming across sexual emails between Bader and her son and brought them to the district’s attention.

Bader was never prosecuted criminally because the student was over 18, the legal age of consent and the detective overseeing the case decided that no crime had been committed.

Her defense was based around the consensual nature of her relationship with the student, his age and her experience with postpartum depression after recently giving birth to twins along with decrying the episode as a ‘lapse of judgement.’

According to legal documents, Bader ‘did not seem to find any emotional or psychological harm to the student from her conduct when she was addressing the reasons her interactions with the student was inappropriate.’

Bader maintained that she hadn’t done anything wrong.

‘Her defence appeared to primarily be that the relationship with the student was not inappropriate because it was consensual, that the student was not a minor and that the young man was not a student in her classroom.’

Bader submitted her resignation by letter on 2005 and her teaching certificates were suspended for a period of four years.

Current educational policy forbids teachers having sexual liaison with students irrespective of age because of the authoritative power educators hold over students.

Over 15 years later – Bader applied for a job at Oyster Bay-East Norwich in Long Island, New York.

Educator’s past finally catches up to haunt her

Somehow Bader had been hired by another school district in between her 2006 scandal and her most recent appointment, she worked at George J. Ryan Middle School in Queens for nine years.

When applying for the OBEN job – Bader left out her stint at East Meadow from the paperwork – and when asked if she had ever had her teaching certificate suspended, the educator answered no.

Bader was originally hired in a teaching position, but was promoted to Principal going into the 2023/2024 school year.

‘With the school year having officially begun, students at James H. Vernon School were greeted by someone new when they arrived for the first day of classes,’ an Oyster Bay-East Norwich Central School District announcement said.
Abrupt departure

‘Jessica Bader, the former director of humanities for kindergarten through 12th grade in the Oyster Bay-East Norwich Central School District, welcomed the students as the new principal of Vernon.’

‘Bader had previously worked as an assistant principal at George J. Ryan Middle School 216 in Manhattan for nine years and arrived at OBEN last year to take over the role of director of humanities K-12.’

[i]‘She’s very friendly and very conscientious and very excited which is great; half this job is having the passion for the kids,’[/b] Laurie Kowalsky, president of OBEN’s BOE, said.

Offered Baden at the time of her hiring as principal, Bader, 51, said, ‘she knew she wanted to be a teacher from an early age. She studied at State University of New York Oneonta, where she got her undergraduate degree in secondary education in English, and received two master’s degrees from Queens College, City University of New York, one in educational administration and one in educational supervision.’

The newly hired principal had also engineered initiatives giving fast track to high achieving students, along with overseeing new curriculums.

But something went wrong two months into Baden’s new role as principal. Her past had finally caught up with her.

Just weeks after entering her new role, a statement sent to parents revealed Bader ‘will be away from the building for some time.’

After her abrupt resignation – an investigation revealed the decade-old scandal and members of the OBEN community are left feeling unsettled.

‘They’re supposed to be trusted, responsible individuals. It doesn’t always work out like that so that means the schools really have to do their homework,’ said parent Gloria McCain.

To date it remained unclear what inspired the newly hired principal’s abrupt departure and whether the school district had been covertly informed of their new hire’s former past?

Also not clear is how educational authorities failed in their due diligence in their hiring process. Or whether in fact they had in fact known all along and chose to look past the previous indiscretion?

A Missouri math teacher employed by the Laquey school district has been accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a 16-year-old high school student.

Hailey Nichelle Clifton-Carmack, 26, of Waynesville, near St. Louis, was arrested by the Garden Ridge Police Department in Texas on Friday in Comal County.

The sexual assaults are alleged to have taken place in Missouri’s Pulaski County, about 800 miles away from where the female educator was apprehended by cops.

Teen victim discovered with scratches on his back after sex with teacher

The woman’s arrest comes following revelations that the teenage boy’s father, Mark Creighton, has also been charged with endangering the welfare of a child after it was claimed he knew that his son was in a relationship with the educator.

Court documents state that the teen and teacher had sex during school and used other students as ‘lookouts,’ according to KRCG.

According to court records, the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department was contacted by the Laquey school resource officer who reported the relationship to the police.

A student came forward and showed photographs of his classmate with scratches on his back to law enforcement.

The teen said the scratches were from Clifton-Carmack after having sex with the teacher in the classmate’s driveway.

Clifton-Carmack, who has two young daughters of her own, was recently divorced having been married to Chance Carmack, who is an amateur mix martial arts fighter and who had completed basic training in the U.S. Army.



Teacher turned up to school wearing ‘tight or low-cut shirts’

Detectives visited the school district on December 8 to speak with the teacher and took her phone but until police got a warrant to unlock it, they were unable to see any incriminating messages.

At the time, Clifton-Carmack denied having any kind of relationship with any students outside of school.

After getting a warrant, police found text messages that related to the alleged relationship with the 16-year-old male victim.

The student who came forward to report the relationship said the teacher is ‘too friendly with students and sometimes will dress inappropriately at school.’

According to court documents, Clifton-Carmack would often wear ‘tight or low-cut shirts’ to show off her ‘headlights.’

She would also wear tight leggings that ‘show off her body,’ and would often be reprimanded by the school’s administration for being ‘too close with students.’



Dad covered for his son

Clifton-Carmack left Missouri to go to Texas to visit family around December 23 and had not returned as of January 3.

Clifton-Carmack was arrested on Friday after fleeing Missouri for Texas.

The teacher in the Laquey R5 school district was arrested ‘without incident’ and booked into the Comal County Jail. She was charged with sexual contact with a student, statutory rape in the second degree, endangering the welfare of a child, and child molestation / being more than four years older than a victim under the age of 17, the dailymail reported.

The teenage boy’s father, Mark Creighton, now also face charges after it was alleged he knew of his son’s alleged relationship with the teacher.

‘[Mark] Creighton knew of the relationship of his minor child and the 26-year-old teacher and instead of reporting the information, he continued to cover for them and allowed the relationship to continue’ and ‘even allowed Hailey to come over to his residence and see the victim while he was present,’ court documents state.

He was arrested in Missouri and charged with endangering the welfare of a child. Mark Creighton has been told to have no contact with Clifton-Carmack.



Abuse of trust, power and authority and parenting failure

Those charges are punishable by three to ten years in prison.

‘We have been made aware of criminal charges being filed against an employee for alleged misconduct,’ Laquey R-5 School District Superintendent Kent Stoumbaugh said.

‘We understand that charges are not the same as a conviction and the employee is to be considered innocent until proven guilty. We must stress, however, that the alleged misconduct is inexcusable and does not meet the professional standards for district employees.

‘The district took immediate action once we were aware of this situation. An investigation is ongoing. The employee has not been in the district since December 8, 2023, and we do not anticipate her return. We strive to ensure that every individual is treated with respect, kindness and fairness, so that all feel safe, secure and welcomed in our schools.’

It remained unclear why the boy’s father allowed the sexual relationship between his son and the teacher to occur and why the role model declined to protect his teen son.

Also unclear is how the arrested female educator came to abuse her position of trust, authority, power and subjugate her male victim.

Brandyn Hargrove, former Texas teacher of the year at Brazoswood High School set to be fired after being indicted over illicit relationship with teen girl for 2 years.

A former Texas ‘teacher of the year’ is set to be fired from a local high school after a grand jury indicted her on twelve charges in relation to having a sexual relationship with a teenage female student for two years.

Brandyn Hargrove, 43, was arrested on December 21 on six counts of sexual assault of a child, four counts of indecency with a child by contact and two counts of indecency with a child by exposure.

Authorities said the victim, who is now in her 30s, went to the police in September about the incident, which began in 2007 when she was 15.



Abuse of trust, authority and power

Hargrove posted a $240,000 bond hours after her arrest and was released from Brazoria County Jail, jail records show according to the dailymail.

Brazoswood High School officials took steps to terminate the female educator’s employment during a special board meeting on January 2 following the allegations.

Hargrove allegedly had a relationship with the former Brazoswood High School student in 2007 when the educator was around 27 years old.

Clute Police Department Chief James Fitch said the victim came forward to authorities in September and said the incidents took place off-campus for two years.

‘Unfortunately, this happens more and more these days,’ the police chief said.

‘Since that time we have other laws in effect, the improper relationship between educator and student was not in effect back then.

‘But your kids go to school and you trust the teachers with that and then these types of things happen.’



Well liked former teacher of the year

The Brazosport Independent School District placed Hargrove on leave in September once they found out about the investigation.

Officials then took action to propose terminating her employment during a specially-called board meeting on January 2.

She will remain on paid administrative leave until action is taken to fire her by the board – with a vote scheduled for January 22.

‘BISD remains dedicated to upholding the highest standards of professionalism and integrity among our staff, and we take the safety and well-being of our students very seriously. We understand that this news may raise concerns,’ a statement from the district read.

‘If any parent, student, or former student has concerns or questions, please do not hesitate to contact Brazoswood High School Principal Rita Pintavalle or Brazosport ISD Police Chief Wade Nichols. We appreciate your understanding and support during this challenging time.’

Hargrove, a Lake Jackson native, joined Brazosport ISD as an English teacher at Brazoswood High School in August 2002, four years after she graduated from the school. She is a longtime member of the Brazosport ISD Education Foundation board, former Brazoswood Teacher of the Year and former chair of the English department.

More victims?

Hargrove was previously crowned Teacher of the Year at the school and the news has left parents worried.

‘I think every parent is concerned about this,’ parent, Mike Walls told KPRC-TV.

‘She’s won numerous awards. She sat on our education foundation for the district.’

Another parent added: ‘That’s not good. You know, you’re there to learn and then this happens.’

Investigators are asking parents and former students to come forward amid concerns that there could be more victims.

Iris Iliana Rodriguez, former Texas counselor alleged to have had sex with 11 year old girl under her care arrested nearly 10 years later in Mexico following a tip.

A female counselor who ‘had sex with an 11-year-old girl under her care’ in Texas was arrested in Mexico after nearly a decade on the run.

Iris Iliana Rodriguez, 34, was arrested in December 11 in Jalisco, Mexico by members of the International Criminal Police Organization after she was tipped off to Crime Stoppers, authorities stated on Friday.

Rodriguez had been on the run since January 2015 after it was discovered the care giver had an inappropriate relationship with a female minor in Laredo, Texas, approximately 150 miles from San Antonio.

At the time, Webb County issued warrants for her arrest, including three counts of indecency with a child and three counts of unlawful restraint and harassment. The wanted woman has since been booked with two additional charges for indecency with a child by sexual contact and flight to avoid prosecution.

Prior to being arrested nearly 10 years ago, Rodriguez, weighing 150 pound and 5ft’2 had fled to Mexico and was placed on Texas’ Top 10 Most Wanted list.

According to authorities, the tipster has been rewarded $5,000 for informing them of Rodriguez’s whereabouts.

‘The U.S. Marshals Service (USMS), along with DPS Criminal Investigations Special Agents from Laredo, coordinated efforts with the USMS Country Attaché in Mexico to develop a plan with the assistance of INTERPOL Mexico to make the arrest,’ Texas Department of Public Safety said in a Facebook post on Friday.

Rodriquez’s inappropriate engagement with the 11-year-old girl reportedly occurred while she was working as a counselor for the Child, Adolescent and Parent Services program in Laredo.

The program is designed to ‘provide comprehensive services and adolescents ages 3 through 17 with a diagnosis of mental illness, who may exhibit an emotional, behavioral or mental disorder with a serious functional impairment,’ according to the program’s website.

Rodriguez then moved on to a new job at the Border Region Behavioral Health Center which is also located in Laredo.

Her new job ‘allowed her to visit the little girl at school under the guise of offering guidance and counselling,’ according to WOAI-TV.

It is unclear how long she will face jail time and if she is due in court for her crimes. It is also unclear where exactly in Jalisco she was discovered. Also not clear is how the wanted woman managed to evade capture for nearly ten years and what ultimately led to tipsters informing her whereabouts.

Kentucky teaching assistant admits having sex w/ multiple teens

Ellen Phillips, former Kentucky teacher’s aide pleads guilty to attempting online enticement of a minor and having sex with multiple teen boys. Educator also going by Ellen Shell from Danville is to be sentenced in April.

A teaching aide has admitted to having sex with multiple teen boys while working at a Kentucky elementary school.

Ellen Phillips, previously Ellen Shell, 38, from Danville, according to a Justice Attorney’s release, pleaded guilty on Friday to attempted online enticement of a minor to engage in sexual conduct.

She confessed to having sexual relationships with ‘numerous teenage boys’ mostly aged between 14 and 16 at the same time in Boyle and Garrard Countries in 2022.

Teaching assistant repeatedly tried to get teen to sneak out and have sex with her

Phillips was working as a teaching aide at Woodlawn Elementary School in Boyle County but was suspended when the allegations emerged.

The former educator will be sentenced in April and now faces a minimum of 10 years in prison and a and a maximum of life in prison, FOX56 reports.

Phillips communicated with the victims on Snapchat, Facebook and over text and would then often meet up with them to have sex.

In her plea agreement, Phillips admitted on December 20, 2022, to repeatedly trying to persuade a 15-year-old boy to sneak out of his home to meet her to have sex.

When the boy told her he couldn’t get out because his mother was awake, Phillips offered him alcohol and oral sex and suggested excuses he could give his mother.

The boy told her he couldn’t leave to meet her.

A buse of trust, authority and power

The mother of one of the victims, who wishes to remain anonymous, told FOX 56 that she went to high school with Phillips and their kids grew up together.

She said: ‘These boys are not aware of the laws that protect them and would not come forward because they thought they would be in trouble.’

She said Phillips had bought her son alcohol at the time of the incident: ‘He said she brought them alcohol 3 to 4 times. I can’t wrap my mind around the extent of what she’s done.’

Phillips was arrested in April 2023, when two minors came forward alleging she had raped them on three separate occasions between July 6 and August 15, 2022, when they were 16.

She was charged with three counts of third-degree rape.

When the allegations emerged she was suspended from her role at the Woodlawn Elementary School.

Boyle County Superintendent Mike LaFavers wrote to parents at the time to say that law enforcement had informed the district of a legal matter alleging unlawful behavior of a Woodlawn Elementary classified employee.

The county did not name the employee, but said that they had been placed on administrative leave.

Before Woodlawn, Phillips worked at Lancaster Elementary School in Garrard County.

A former Florida art teacher faces up to 90 years jail after police discovered 28 videos of her having sex with an 8th grade student. The nearly 30 videos were allegedly filmed in a car, a hotel and other locations across three counties, according to a criminal complaint.

Marie-Jo Gordo, 29, faces three counts of sexually exploiting a minor and federal child p*rn*graphy charges, according to a criminal complaint filed on Oct. 25.

Gordo entered a plea of not guilty on Jan. 8 via a signed waiver and is scheduled to appear in an Orlando court on Jan. 18. Phillip Arroyo, Gordo’s attorney, could not be reached at press time to comment on the charges.

Mom discovers intimate videos

The female educator has been free on bond since her October arrest, the Orange County Sheriff’s Department stated.

Approximately 28 videos of Gordo and the boy ‘engaged in sexual activity’ were found on their phones after the boy’s mother contacted the Orange County Sheriff’s Office about the alleged abuse in September, 2023, WESH reported. The Orange County Digital Forensics Unit determined the location where the videos were taken using metadata.

Before resigning in June, Gordo was employed at an Orange County charter school that was not named in court documents. Since then, she had been hired as an art teacher at another school in the county, also unnamed, where she taught students ranging from kindergarten to eighth grade, ClickOrlando reported.

The boy was a student in her eighth-grade class in 2019, court documents showed. Gordo was also his religious ambassador at the school, he told police.

90 years jail

After reviewing the videos, an FBI task force officer working with the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office interviewed the student.

The student told detectives that he and Gordo had been meeting at hotels and in his former teacher’s car between June and September 2023, where their trysts were filmed.

Deputies stated Gordo appeared to be responsible for the recordings, sending several of the videos to the boy’s phone.

A warrant was issued compelling Gordo to unlock her Apple iPhone 11 and any other personal devices for police examination – it is unclear whether further evidence was obtained from her device.

If convicted, Gordo faces up to 30 years in prison per count — a maximum sentence of 90 years for all three counts.

Megan Pauline Jordan Henrico County, Virginia middle school teacher pleads guilty to sex crimes as she now faces up to 50 years jail in sentencing.

Define sexual predator? A married middle school teacher in Virginia has admitted to the ongoing sexual abuse of a 14-year-old boy she taught.

Megan Pauline Jordan, 25, who married in 2021, pleaded guilty to four counts of carnal knowledge and one count of indecent liberties of a minor.

The former science teacher at Hungary Creek Middle School, in Chesterfield, VA, was arrested and charged in the case on June 30 last year, prior to her plea deal.

Sexual predator

Since then the former Henrico County teacher has remained jailed without bond, the Richmond Times reported. The female educator faces up to 50 years jail upon sentencing at a later date.

Jordan sneaked into the victim’s bedroom numerous times during the 2022-23 school year to have sex with the boy. The teacher’s DNA was found on his bedsheets according to Henrico prosecutors.

Henrico County Commonwealth’s Attorney Shannon Taylor thanked law enforcement for removing a ‘predator’ from the streets.

‘We are always asking people if they see something unusual, or not quite right, to say something,’ she said.

‘Because of their efforts, this predator is off the streets, out of our schools, and will be held accountable for her actions.’

Minors, those under the age of 17, are not legally able to consent to sexual activity under Virginia code.

Abuse of position of authority, trust and power

Students at the school were shocked to learn ‘Ms Jordan’ had committed the crimes, but others said they saw the signs for months.

‘She was my teacher, I knew there was something wrong with her and the student’s relationship,’ one wrote on social media according to the dailymail.

‘The student wouldn’t do any of the work and she wouldn’t bat an eye. I noticed subtle flirting and teasing, the tension between them was insane.

‘She deserves a life sentence for grooming this poor kid.’

Not immediately clear is what led to the female educator abusing her position of trust, authority and power and subjugating her male victim.

A sentencing hearing is set for May 20.
