I actually can't stand watching Platoon. It insists on itself.
Oliver Stone got it more right in Born on the 4th of July on how the vets were treated at the VA Hospitals (or says my Uncles). I did like that speech at the end of the movie for a couple reasons. #1 The movie is over and second Oliver Stone is a douchebag.
Apocalypse Now deals more with the mental states of war which I dig. Martin Scheen almost ruins the whole thing and Scorcese sometimes tells a story at a fucking snails pace but hands down A. N. wins.

I was sure I'd seen this fucker in something other than Funny People, but going through his list on Wikipedia, the only other one he was in (besides being the voice of Gag Halfrunt on HHGG) that I saw was Walk Hard. He does look annoying as fuck, but I'm sure he's no Barbra Streisand or Jane Fonda.

Yeah, Born on the 4th of July had some good truth to it, but I also kind of got bored with it, I thought that Tom Cruise maybe ruined that shit with his shitty acting.
Apocalypse Now is slow at times, but the movie's pacing matches the pacing in Heart of Darkness pretty well. And I love the small of napalm in the morning, so.....
