Ohio Teacher Gets Prison for Sex with Students, Including in Car Before School

A former Ohio high school teacher will spend two years in prison after being convicted of having sex with two student on numerous occasions, both in her home and in her car in a park.

Charging documents obtained by PEOPLE last year accused Laura Dunker of six counts of sexual battery — four with one student and two with the other. In October, she pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual battery, according to FOX8.

On Thursday, Dunker was given two years in prison for each count, but the sentences will be served concurrently. After her release, she will be on probation for five years.

Dunker will be registered as a Tier III registered sex offender. She will have to re-register every 90 days for the rest of her life.

Dunker, now 31, was once employed at Bedford High School in Bedford, Ohio. The alleged incidents occurred between November 1, 2018 and October 19, 2019.

In one instance, according to the indictment, Dunker allegedly picked up one of the students prior to school and had intercourse with him in her car in a park. Two of the other alleged incidents occurred at Dunker's home.

A separate charge accuses Dunker of tampering with evidence on or about November 6, 2019, while "knowing that an official proceeding or investigation was in progress."

Dunker did not speak during sentencing, but the prosecutor said that her crimes were very serious.

"Teachers are expected to be role models to their students and communities which they serve," Prosecutor Michael O'Malley told the court. "She took advantage of these students and now must face the consequences."

Georgia Substitute Elementary School Teacher Charged with 19 Counts of Child Molestation

A Georgia substitute teacher has been arrested and charged with 19 counts of child molestation, police announced.


Staff at Mt. Zion Elementary School in Carrollton alerted Carroll County investigators on Friday regarding allegations of misconduct by a substitute teacher, Carroll County Sheriff's Office reported on Facebook.

Investigators reported that the teacher, identified as Carrollton resident Amelia Ressler, engaged in "indecent and immoral acts while in the presence of school-aged children."

Ressler, 30, was arrested on Friday and is currently booked at Carroll County Jail. A bond for Ressler has not been set, according to jail records. It is not yet known if Ressler has obtained an attorney or entered a plea.

"We appreciate the dedication Carroll County Schools has for the safety of their students as we were contacted immediately following the allegations and we will continue to work closely with them during the remainder of the investigation," the sheriff's office said in a statement.

The sheriff's office did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for comment.

The district attorney's office has been contacted and will also be involved in the investigation.

Carroll County spokeswoman Ashley Hulsey told Fox 5 in an interview that "it appeared [Ressler] was masturbating while the classroom was full of kids."

Hulsey explained that investigators were able to obtain video evidence as Ressler "videoed it herself and disseminated it."

Carroll County Ga. substitute teacher pleasures self in front of 19 children in class

How much is a child’d innocence worth? A Georgia substitute teacher has been arrested after allegedly ‘pleasuring herself’ in front of her second-grade class during school hours, Carroll County authorities said.

Amelia Marie Ressler, 30, of Carrollton, allegedly filmed herself on Snapchat performing the act while in the classroom at Mt. Zion Elementary School, FOX5 reported.

‘Ressler engaged in indecent and immoral acts while in the presence of school-aged children,’ Carroll County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Ashley Hulsey told WAGA. Adding, ‘It appears she was masturbating while the classroom was full of kids.’

Hulsey described the incident as ‘disturbing,’ adding that kids could’ve seen her touch herself.

‘Where she was sitting, it wasn’t like it was a closed desk and [the kids] couldn’t look up and visually see what she was doing at the time,’ Hulsey told CBS46.

13 second video circulating via Snapchat



Detectives began investigating Ressler after receiving a tip about a 13 second video circulating in the community and reporting it to school officials.

‘We obtained video evidence because she videoed it herself and disseminated it and we were able to get ahold of that evidence,’ Husley told WAGA.

FOX 5 talked to one parent named Nicole whose daughter is in that second-grade class.

‘My daughter had been bragging about the substitute, said they were having lots of fun, they played a lot of games,’ said the parent, Nicole.

Faces 5-20 years jail if convicted

Ressler was arrested Friday and booked into Carroll County jail on 19 counts of child molestation, authorities said.

At the time of the ‘incident’, educators described up to 19 children present in the second-grade classroom. Children are usually aged 7–8 in this grade level.

‘We appreciate the dedication Carroll County Schools has for the safety of their students as we were contacted immediately following the allegations and we will continue to work closely with them during the remainder of the investigation,’ the sheriff’s office said.

Ressler who remains held without bail, faces 5 to 20 years in prison if convicted of child molestation.

Not immediately clear is what compelled the female educator to perform the sex act on herself in front of the unwitting children.

It was not immediately clear how long Resller has been a substitute teacher at Mt. Zion Elementary School or within the Carroll County School District.

Former middle school substitute teacher in Georgetown, Ky. charged with raping 8th grader

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A former middle school teacher at Royal Spring Middle School has been arrested and charged with three counts of third-degree rape, according to a report by LEX 18.

Georgetown police arrested Alexandria Allen, 25, Monday. They say the victim is an eighth-grade student at the school.

According to an arrest warrant, Allen came into contact with the 15-year-old boy when she was in a position of authority or a position of public trust. Police say in a forensic interview, the teen told them he had sex with his 25-year-old teacher.

His mother reported Allen to police last October when she says she found nude pictures and videos of Allen and her son on his cell phone. She said Allen was his tutor.

At the time, she told LEX 18, "I was disgusted because you're supposed to be helping him, and she wasn't helping him at all."

LEX 18 withheld the name of the mother in an effort to protect her teen son's identity.

The arrest warrant reported that the alleged rapes happened from March to October of last year at three different locations, including the Hilton Inn in Georgetown.

During court on Tuesday, Allen's attorney entered a not-guilty plea on her behalf and waived formal arraignment. The judge reduced her bond to $2,500 and ordered no contact with the victim. Allen has no prior criminal record.

She is due back in court for a preliminary hearing on Feb. 2.

Georgetown police say they are still reviewing other evidence and additional charges could be filed.

Hayley Hallmark Niceville Florida Okaloosa County middle school teacher arrested for having two-year sexual relationship with a teen female student.

A Florida middle school teacher had a two-year sexual relationship with a teen female student that included secret encounters in her classroom along with at both the teacher’s and victim’s home, Okaloosa County deputies said in a Facebook release.

Hayley Morgan Hallmark, a 35-year-old teacher and soccer coach at C.W. Ruckel Middle School in Niceville, was arrested Friday on a charge of lewd and lascivious conduct with a student by an authority figure.

The victim, who is now 17, told investigators Thursday she was an eighth-grader at the school when she and Hallmark started texting in August 2017, the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office said.

A year later, the pair then started ‘sexting’ when the student, then 15, began ninth grade — with Hallmark and the girl trading illicit photographs and talking about cuddling on Snapchat, an arrest report shows according to WEARTV.

But there’s more.

Performed various sex acts on each other

The teen also told investigators she and Hallmark performed sex acts on each other at the middle school when she helped the educator coach the soccer team after school, the report shows.

‘[The teen] explained the defendant and she would perform these acts in the classroom by tilting the classroom cameras away and leaning against the classroom door so no one could enter,’ according to the report obtained by the nypost.

The teen said she and Hallmark also performed various sex acts on each other at both of their homes, the arrest report shows.

A search of the teen’s phone backed up her claims and confirmed an ‘inappropriate relationship’ between her and Hallmark, which lasted until August 2020, authorities said.

Abuse of trust, power & authority

Hallmark was placed on administrative leave Thursday, one day before a warrant was issued for her arrest, sheriff’s officials said.

The district superintendent will recommend that Hallmark be suspended without pay as her criminal case proceeds, the Northwest Florida Daily News reported.

‘Okaloosa County teachers represent the highest standard of professionalism, ethics, and morality,’ Superintendent Marcus Chambers said in a written statement. ‘When an educator fails to live up to that high standard, we’re all impacted. Student safety and well-being is our highest priority, and we expect our employees’ conduct to be consistent with that priority.’

Hallmark, of Destin, is listed in jail records as Hayley Morgan Close. She remained held on $20,000 bond at the Okaloosa County Jail as of early Monday, online records show.

Not immediately clear is what led to the female educator betraying her position of trust, authority and abuse of power to sexually prey on her teen victim.

An Alabama high school band director faces up to 20 years jail following allegations that the female educator engaged in an inappropriate sexual relationship with one of her teen male students.

Ashlee Elizabeth Steinman, the 29-year-old band director at Chilton County High School in Clanton, was arrested on Tuesday according to WSFA.

Steinman faces two separate felony charges for school employee engaging in a sex act with a student and using her official position to gain access to the student and carrying out the illegal relationship, C.J. Robinson, chief deputy district attorney of the 19th Judicial Circuit, told AL.com.

Notice of the ‘inappropriate relationship’ followed police in Clanton receiving a report about a possible relationship between the suspect and an 18-year-old student.

Police have yet to provide specific details about the alleged ongoing tryst.
Possible additional charges & possible other victims

Steinman faces up to 20 years if convicted CBS 42 reported.

The teacher has yet to enter pleas to the two charges, and information on her attorney, if she has one, was unavailable Thursday.

Officials said the investigation into Steinman is ongoing and they have not ruled out the possibility of additional alleged victims.

‘We go where the evidence takes us, but we are very early in the process. If the investigation reveals probable cause for more charges or heaven forbid additional victims, then we are ready to act,’ Robinson said.

Steinman, who has a master’s degree in music education from Troy University, has worked for the school since 2017.

Hebrew academy teacher, 47, fired sending nude photos & video to students

Alexandra Handwerger Miami Beach Hebrew academy teacher, 47, fired for allegedly sending nude photos & video to former students. No charges as authorities investigate.

A Florida school teacher from has been fired after allegedly sending nude pictures and video of herself to former students who are over the age of 18.

Alexandra Handwerger, 47, a mother-of-two boys, taught at Miami Beach’s Hebrew Academy, a private school for Jewish children where tuition costs up to $24,000 a year.

Matters came to the fore after the school was tipped of by a group of 18-year-old men who were former students about the alleged nudes.

The group, who are currently studying in Israel, claimed having received inappropriate photos and video from Handwerger via Snapchat.

Handwerger who was the head of the English department at the Academy was asked by school officials how the students got hold of the pictures.

Teacher recalls taking the photos but not knowing how the former students received images

A police report noted that the teacher said she could not recall how, while admitting to taking the shots.

Handwerger was sacked on January 30th despite no charges having been filed against the educator. Miami Beach Police were informed a few weeks later on February 19th.

Jude Faccidomo, Handwerger’s attorney, says the allegations are baseless.

‘My client hasn’t seen any photographs. I haven’t seen any photographs, so I’m not in a position to comment on them,’ he said to WSVN. ‘There’s no criminal allegations here. It’s curious that Miami Beach Police are investigating it. We certainly understand the need to, and again, we welcome it.’

‘We take these allegations very seriously, and are troubled by how they have materialized. This issue was brought to the school’s attention through gossip and innuendo. The report itself references false emails and second hand sources. Unfortunately, it seems the salacious nature of the allegation has given way to favoring rumor over substance.’

School administrators say that Handwerger may have been involved with a former student around one year ago. Both student and teacher denied the allegations when confronted.

According to an incident report seen by Local10, school administrators received an anonymous email which alleged how a teacher was sending inappropriate pictures.

Fall out

The email contained a phone number, which upon calling lead to a school administrator in Israel.

A letter was sent home to parents addressing the issue, which read: ‘We received information that there is a video and possible photos of a former teacher that are inappropriate. It is our understanding that some graduates and current students may have received copies of the videos and/or photos.

‘We are unaware of how our students received the videos/photos at this time, but have been and continue to conduct a thorough investigation regarding the entirety of this serious matter.’

The school’s administration has also stated that a therapist is to meet with groups of students to discuss the situation.

Of note, Handwerger is the wife of former WSVN broadcaster Rosh Lowe, who spent more than a decade at the station according to the outlet.

Attorney David Kubiliun, who represents Lowe, said he has no knowledge of any alleged inappropriate behavior and that he is a dedicated father who is a victim in this situation and is doing all he can to care for their children.

Handwerger and Lowe are understood to be currently estranged.

Lauderdale County Alabama seventh grade teacher has sex w/ student

Ashton Alana McCluskey Lauderdale County Alabama seventh grade math teacher at Brooks High School accused of having sex with student under the age of 17.

An Alabama teacher has been accused of engaging in a sex act with a student according to reports.
Ashton Alana McCluskey was charged with two counts of school employee sex act with a student under the age of 17. McCluskey was released on a $50,000 bond after being booked into the jail Wednesday according to the Lauderdale County Detention Center.

According to Al.com, McCluskey is listed as a teacher at Brooks High School as a 7th grade math teacher. The media outlet adds the student victim is a family member of a sheriff’s department employee.

The woman’s arrest follows the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s State Bureau of Investigation conductng an investigation following allegations against McClusky back in January, of sexual misconduct involving a student.

The educator at the time was placed on paid leave pending an outcome of an investigation, with the teacher surrendering herself on Wednesday upon the issuance of two charges against her WAAY 31 reported.

Married teacher was placed on paid admin leave

According to WHNT, the charges indicate the student was under 17 when Alabama school teacher allegedly initiated sex.

Other details in the case were not immediately available.

McCluskey has taught 7th grade math at Brooks for the past three years. She is also affiliated with the private cheer coaching endeavor Champion Cheer Athletics, having been on the cheer team at the University of Alabama where she received her teaching degree in 2017.

According to associates of the teacher, McCluskey is a Brooks High graduate who has been married for three years, residing in Killen. If charged and convicted of sexual contact with a student, McCluskey faces a permanent state ban on her teaching license, as well as possible prison time.

Not immediately clear is what led to the female educator betraying her position of trust, authority and power and subjugating her male victim.

Authorities continue to investigate.

Former Decatur teacher pleads guilty to sex act with student after previously saying law was unconstitutional

Carrie Witt former Decatur Alabama High School teacher pleads guilty to sex act with student after previously saying law was unconstitutional.

A former Alabama teacher and cheerleading coach who previously argued that a state law barring school staff from having sex with students younger than 19 was unconstitutional has now admitted her guilt.

Carrie Witt, 47, a former educator at Decatur High School, on Monday entered a plea of guilty to one count of school employee engaging in a sex act with a student WHNT reported.

In exchange for her plea, Morgan County prosecutors agreed to drop a second charge against Witt, who was initially accused of having sex with two boys, ages 17 and 18.

‘We’re glad that it’s resolved, that it’s done,’ Morgan County Assistant District Attorney Courtney Schellack told Decatur Daily. ‘It’s been a long process and we’re just glad it’s done for the community and the victims in the case.’

Witt was scheduled to go on trial on Monday, but instead entered a ‘blind plea’ with prosecutors without reaching a sentencing agreement with them, which will allow them to seek whatever sentence they see fit.

Can a teacher having sex with students under the age of 19 ever be constitutional?

‘And in this case, we believe that prison time is more than appropriate,’ Schellack said.

The woman faces up to 20 years in state prison and will be required to register as a sex offender when she is sentenced on July 1.

Witt taught history, psychology and social studies, as well as coaching the varsity girls’ golf team and and junior varsity cheerleading at Decatur HS, when in March 2016 she was charged with having sexual contact with two students, who were 17 and 18, respectively, at the time of the encounters.

In 2017, a judge dismissed the charges against Witt after her lawyers successfully argued that a 2010 law, that made it a felony for a school employee to have sex with a student under 19 years old, was unconstitutional.

But what if the genders were reversed?

Witt argued that she was in a consensual relationship with the students, and that she was only prosecuted for being a school employee, which violated her 14th Amendment right to privacy and equal protection.

Morgan County Circuit Judge Glenn Thompson said the court found the statute ‘unconstitutional’ and that there was no proof Witt used her position of authority to force the two students to have sex.

Which is to wonder, had the genders been reversed and a male teacher claimed that sex with a female student ought not be sanctioned, on the proviso that they too did not use their position of authority, trust and power to subjugate their teen victim — would a court have ruled similarly?

The judge noted that Alabama state law allows students to legally have sex at age 16, as long as someone doesn’t use their position of authority to obtain that consent.

Prosecutors appealed and the Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals reversed the ruling and reinstated the charges against Witt.

She was put on administrative leave with pay by Decatur High School and resigned in April 2018.

Witt is scheduled to be sentenced July 1.

Former Lockport principal, 44, confesses to sex with teen boy

The former principal of a Louisiana middle school has confessed to having sex with a teen boy, authorities said.

Ashleigh Landry, 44, of Raceland was the head of Lockport Middle School when she allegedly had sex with the unidentified teen, the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday.

Deputies began to investigate Landry earlier this month after learning that she allegedly had been sexting with the teen.

During an interview with detectives, Landry admitted to sending the messages and having sex with him, authorities said.

She was arrested Wednesday on a felony charge of carnal knowledge of a juvenile — an offense which indicates that the victim was between 13 and 16 years old. It is unclear if he was a student at her school.
Betrayal of trust, and abuse of position and authority

‘Absolutely disgusting,’ one Facebook user commented. ‘We trusted her and turns out she’s a criminal.’

Landry was released from Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex in Thibodaux on $25,000 bail.

The incident led to the educator being fired from her position at the school, WWL-TV reported.

Lafourche Parish School District released a statement Thursday that said they were aware of the charges against her and confirmed she was no longer employed there.

‘We will certainly work closely with the Sheriff’s department in order to ensure that a complete and thorough investigation into the matter is conducted,’ the district said.
