I currently have a Tennis match on the TV - first round at Wimbledon - it's 59 games all in the fifth set. It's the longest match in history. They have been playing the fifth set all day today. The fifth set alone is longer then the previous longer match.

I was gonna watch football or a movie, but I want a result now. I'm too invested in it!



EDIT: Fuck. They've just suspended play due to bad light. They've been playing for 10 hours!

One of the greatest demonstrations of intelligence is to work with people you don't like. You don't have to like someone to work with them, its about the job. My only issue with this is that it was a military job, you just can't fuck with the chain of command. Under every administration, if I couldn't respect the man, I still respected the office.

I believe you about Petraeus, what administration doesn't go after the previous? But the reason they put him in charge is because Iraq is winding down and he's been the over seer of both campaigns. Why not demote the guy to finishing one puny little war?

Also, it is kind of a bitch move on the general's part now that I think about it. If I have a problem with someone, I deal with it personally. I don't need to run to others to talk about it.

The interviewer said that it was apparent that these weren't off the cuff remarks, plus there are witnesses when he was saying the same stuff at other points. The more I read about the guy, the more I'm thinking my cousin (that's been in the army for 14 years and has been to Iraq and Afghanistan several times) is right: Officers = Big headed dicks. My point. You don't have to like the guy but publicly you the very least you do is shut your mouth. When I was in the corporate world you disagreed behind closed doors and presented a united face in public.

McChrystal knew exactly what he was doing and exactly what would happen. You don't run Delta when you happen to let things fly in casual conversations, let alone an interview.
