If you worked in the trenches before you graduated with your expensive piece of paper then it should be much easier to secure yourself a position but doing the job as a summer intern who is going back to college in a few weeks is not the same as someone who has to learn how to display some maturity and responsibility.
Too many college kids get their BA's and BS's, think thet they are owed a job paying 60k/yr and then walk around like their shit don't stink.
Military Service (Active Duty not the National Guard or Reserves) for 4 years should be mandatory upon High School graduation/drop out or graduation from college also.

I did 4 years active duty and the last 5 in the ANG. All that help me get a great job with a defense contractor. I make more than alot of college grads.

HOOOAH!!!
I did 4 1/2 in the CT Army Guard (Honorable Discharge) and been Mgt. for 12 years now. I hire people with military experience almost on the spot unless there are several applicants and not enough slots. Kids right out college get the hardest fucking time with me. Just as in the military, I try to make them quit (within the law) just to see how bad they really want the job.
Some have quit on me but the best college grads stuck it out and moved up the food chain pretty quickly.
Thank god for us bitter sacks of emotionless fucks. We are legendz!

I agree on the college kids, the only entitlement you should have is that now the REAL work begins. If they do a bang up job, then fuck it pay them what the market allows.
I kind of agree with the expensive piece of paper, but someone explained it to me in a way that made a lot of sense. Its not that you know shit about the job, its that you're CAPABLE of doing it. You don't give up when you don't understand something and put up with the learning curve that most people drop out of. Think the highschool drop out rate is bad? You should check out the college rate, at my school its a bit more than 2/3. Once I realized that its to prove that you can do it, it gave it a lot more worth than an expensive piece of paper. Believe me, I called it 'just a piece of paper' when I was younger.
I don't agree with the mandatory military service. The well to do will always get the high end of the stick on that one and always have. All you do is make those with less opportunities/connections learn something they may not have an interest in. The country is supposed to be about choice, right?

Don't get me wrong trips because I understand how difficult college can be. I say what I say about military service being mandatory because too many college grads have been coddled for too long and just do not show up at work with a "sense of urgency" and lack of respect.
