It's not a double-standard. Boys and girls are different. That's part of what's wrong with this fucking country is that people talk about double-standards when you have to have uniformity to have a standard. Is it a double-standard that women can wear sleeveless blouses and skirts at work and men can't? No. Is it a double standard that men have urinals in their bathrooms and women don't? No. Is it a double standard that some skanky teacher can fuck an almost-adult male student and not be subject to the same criticism that some sick old fuck with a bent hard-on gets for fucking a female student? No.

I disagree. Adults can't have sex with children. It is illegal. Every state has to pick that cut off age whether it be 16, 17, etc. Granted some 17 yr olds may be mature enough physically and mentally to have sex with an adult but some most definitely aren't. It shouldn't matter if it is a guy or girl.
But since you pointed out that boys and girls are different. I will point out that most girls mature faster than boys. So by that rational shouldn't it be worse to for women to sleep with underage boys because they are less likely to have matured?

Listen I didn't say it makes sense. If I had a daughter and a son, I would be more upset if I found out a teacher had slept with my daughter.
None the less a women should face the same penalty as a man in this case.

I agree that statutory rape is statutory rape, but I also don't see it as a double standard as far as the punishments go. Did this person get off light? Probably. But then you have others that get ruined for it. But be that as it may, it is not wrong to view females as different from males.

NEWARK, N.J. — A New Jersey woman recently named a county’s teacher of the year was in court Wednesday to answer charges that she had sex with a 15-year-old boy enrolled in an honors class she taught.

An attorney for Erica DePalo, 33, of Montclair, entered a not guilty plea on her behalf during a hearing in Superior Court in Newark. DePalo faces aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault and child endangerment charges. The boy was in her honors English class and the two carried on what prosecutors described in court documents as a “sexual relationship” from June until recently.

DePalo has been indefinitely suspended from her job teaching English at West Orange High School, according to school officials. Her attorney said she had been a teacher for nearly a decade. DePalo was named Essex County’s teacher of the year in 2011.
