Got two friends coming in from China tonight. It's there first time leaving the country, so I bet it is really exciting to them. When they were kids Mao Zedong was their leader and the idea of visiting another country was something you couldn't even talk about. I can't wait to show them what clean air and water looks like. Anyway, I won't be around much for the next two weeks.

Sounds cool. NYC will blow their minds i bet! Not bcuz of the size but bcuz of the variety of people/culture.

Thanks, I will be taking them around Texas for a week in between. I'll be checking in at night though. They are country folk and the cities do not impress them much. For instance they hate Beijing. But they will have fun.

They never ate Italian food in their life, or anything other than Chinese food really. It's going to be interesting. I wrote them with the flight info a few weeks ago and told them they better practice using a knife and fork

That's awesome dude. I can't imagine the culture shock. We had a japanese college student stay with me when my second wife and I were still married a few years ago, and the culture shock for her was pretty big, and Japan is a free country not an economocracy.

These guys are the ones who take care of me when I am in China so they have seen me in their culture many times. I spend 75% of my time completely unaware of what is going on. I was smart though, and learned a lot about the culture before I went. Everywhere I go in China people praise me on how well I use chop sticks, and even saying hello in Chinese gets a big reaction. I tell them most people in the US know how to use chop sticks, but still they are impressed. These guys have been completely cut off from the west for most of their lives. They are going to get to see Austin TX, then we are going to travel around TX for a few days, and then a week in NYC. The first night in Austin we are going to take them to a tittie bar

It's going to be fun.
